so yeh back to here to ask some random stuff..
does anyone knw if there is a primer or a high temp paint like two packs for engine rocker covers?
like jdmtoy, the red civic had a red rocker cover and white lines to make a jap flag.
or like the nissan RB engines come in a red but sealed with a clear coat that prob should b high temp

atm im thinking, strip the paint of the existing. spray some etch primer, then a few coats of high temp engine enamel. then the color i desire sealed off with HS clearcoat.
i can basically get most materials cos i work for a smah repair.

standard 2K paints and prep materials will be fine on engine covers.

or you can go with powdercoating if you decide not to go DIY

engine enamel wont need primer but if your VHT paints you will need primer.

I stripped mine back with paint stripper and cleaned it all right up...
Then sprayed it with some primer.

I then painted it with engine enamel.

Should be fine on a rocker cover.. I didnt even use clear. I guess you could if you liked.

This was just a simple DIY... Im yet to drive the car and see heat/wear but im confident it should hold up. If not, so what... $20 in paint... i could always have it done again.

if you go for paint, treat it as you would a car body - etch, highfill then paint as required.

if you want something candy let me know and i can help you out.
