heloo guys, i hope someone can help me out here.

i just got my studs on my front right side changed on my eg at a mechanic and after changing the studs there was this knocking noise while the car drives........i took it back to the mechanic and they were telling me that it is not their fault as all they had to do is change the studs and thats it....but after asking a couple of people they have informed me that sometimes changing the studs can cause a problem to the bearings......soo now i dont really know what steps i have to do to get it fixed......any help would be appreciated please....THANK YOU

welded them on?
You shouldnt need to do that!!
What if another one snaps off?? That's just creating un-neccessary work.

Why in the hell would the mechanics have bothered... time is money.

I would do what the others have mentioned...

Whats the sound like... Does the sound increase with speed?

First things first, check you dont simply have a rock in a tyre, and check that your axles arent touching a shield or anything...

If you need to change a bearing, its a decent job. You need to pull the whole arm off the car, remove the disc and have it pressed out and a new one pressed in.

Edit: If you have the car jacked up, try spinning the wheel, compare it to the other side. Hard to turn?
Grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try pull and push it, any movement???

well they welded it because the bit were the stud sits in was kindv loose so the stud did not sit in properly.......

the sound does increase when i speed up and its like a hard knocking sound.....

the mechanic was being a prick and did not want to jack the car up to tell me what was wrong with it

Sounds like somewhere to not return if they are going to treat you like shit...
Could be a CV joint aswell...

Also, did he need to weld on all of the studs? They most likely werent suited to your honda and that could be why they didnt fit.

no its not the cv joints i checked.....because it was fine before i took it to them

they did not weld all the studs just 2 of them

im really pissed with them and will be going back to them on tuesday

its most probably a wheel bearing issue.. basically knackered..

Your lookign at around 75 to 100 dollars for a replacement at a normal price, maybe a bit cheaper for trade.

This kit will include everything one needs to swap the bearings over.. the Hub has to be removed too, so if you attempt it, make sure you have someone around that has a fair idea!

in my experience, a busted wheel bearing doesnt make a knock, it just makes a very loud humming noise, that increases in volume the faster you go

I heart the SSS

Apparently it's on it's way out... The Mechanic who looked at it has the same problem with a Toyota, wheel bearing was the issue :)

We'll take it from there I guess?

yeah it increases as the car gets faster.....i will be taking the car to change the bearings and hope that fixes the problem.........but i really want someone to actually hear it to tell me what it is before i take it to a mechanic and he will charge me for just opening and knowing what the problem is.....thanks
