Hi Guys,

Just thought I would drop a quick intro. I have just recently bought a Del Sol with the automatic roof.

It is for my wife, but I am an old Honda fan from way back. I had a 1999 model VTi R Civic Coupe in 2000 and loved it. That was when I met my wife, and she liked it also. Now that she is looking for something a little more interesting, I saw this thing and had to snap it up for her.

I would like to do some mods, and I have already started since picking the car up on Saturday.

I ordered a K&N Filter and a CAI Kit with the pipe going into the drivers front fender.
I am getting the windows tinted this Thursday.

I would like to get some S2K seats for it.
A larger Throttle body.
Skunk2 IM.
18" rims
and becuase it is for the wife, maybe some king springs instead of Coilovers.

So far from what I have seen on this forum everyone seems really friendly and open to help. I tip my hat to you and hope that I can help anyone on here with the limited Honda knowledge I have.

Nick

I am open to suggestions on mods also people, so if you know anyone who has done these mods or more, please let me know where to read more!

Some recent pics with the HKS Earthing kit and the CAI system in.
I will take some pics with the widow tint and the clear side indicators once the car is clean!

g'day and welcome. s2k seats are nice. got them in my teggy but there is one thing to consider. the rails!!! as they are s2k rails you will have to drill holes and custom fit them. i just did a diy job on them and they are sweeet!
i would say you might as well get a 4-2-1 header along with a b pipe and exhast. that itself will put out some extra KW's. when getting a aftermarket header make sure you do some research. toda is the best but then again might be too extreme. K&N is alright but i would prefear ARC intakes they are way better but then again depends on what the owners aim is in the end result.
king springs should do alright with the car. their spring rate is fairly ok.

my understanding was the s2k seats bolt straight in, using the delsol rails

maybe i was wrong? coz i was gona put some in mine

but agreed with what everyone is saying with the mods... intake, headers, and exhaust, did it on mine.. it was sweet :D

welcome man.. love the sol

just wondering, does the auto roof rattles when its shut? like most of the audm delsol?

to run s2000 seats you swap the seat pan from the del sol seats over to the s2000 seats so you can run your OEM rails.

As far as i know you can do it to any SR3 seats in order to run SR2 Rails for an SR2 car.

Coilovers > springs/shocks. much better adjustability and fine tuning. not to mention performance.

Im guessing at one stage the engine has been swapped out. I'm pretty sure all transtop version came with a D series engine.

Best thing to upgrade would be the brakes i'd say. The stock brakes were crap on mine, and i didn't even have the extra weight of a transtop. Should at least get some slotted rotors and descent pads. Either that or a type R 5 stud conversion which will open up a world of new wheels for ya

Thanks for the info, that is great!

So these Type-R conversions, how hard are they to do?

The roof doesnt rattle at all, but you can feel the rigidity of the entire car loosen up when the roof is off. Is there any way other than a cage to stop it? lol

Do people use under braces? I saw one on eBay or somewhere, looked pretty simple, but not sure how effective it is?

Under brace won't help fix the flex problems with the upper half of the car.

You need whats called a 'Happy bar'. They're a del sol thing. Exactly the same as a b pillar bar (between the two upper seat belt constraints behind the seats). Fixes the problem with the roof off.

type R conversions for the brakes are easy. Once you've got all the parts its completely bolt on.

My roof didn't rattle at all. Until i got solid mounts lol. I spose thats the price you pay. hehe

good to know the auto roof doesnt rattle.

roof rattles seem rather too common and its annoying.

Jasan, do u have any pics of the 'happy bar' ?

Thats a good thread from honda-tech. Getting old now though (2005).

It mentions happys bar, harness bars and cabin bars. Essentially all the same thing but apparently they have their differences.

Either way, people have said its effective.

IMO I'll just keep the roof on :p

What sort of parts do you need?

That bar looks pretty cool, but good luck trying to find one, that post is years old. Damn it! lol Looked exactly like somethig i needed!

it looks like something easy to fab up. A descent exhaus place might even be able to manage it.

You need the front knuckle/hub/disc/caliper from a DC2 ITR. Have a search around. Theres more to it but its a pretty easy job. No customising just straight bolt on once you have the right parts.
