ay :)

Im just woundering somthing.

Ive got a nicely painted red cover sitting on an engine that been sitting there for atleast 4 mouths.

I plan on selling the engine soon and i would like to swap the red cover with my black one in my current teg.

Ive read afew DIYs and understand how to take em off and that they need to be resealed.

But im woundering, will i do any damage to the dormate mortor since its been sitting there so long ?

I assume its a good well working motor but im not sure if anything has been sitting in the head... and had maybe clogged or blocked up the head. As it hasnt moved in a good few mouths.

I might be stupid but i dont wanna screw the motor over for the buyer.

Put me out of my stupidity :P

cheers

You won't have problems except for maybe hardened gasket sealant. Also, be careful because you might snap the bolts from using too much torque.

just make sure nothing falls into the motor, and for a good clean all the old gasket off

*dormant* not Dormate

but as said, its only cam cover, not the entire head ;)

Well the worst thing that could happen is hardened head sealent (as aaronng stated) but that wont be a big issue. Iv personally noticed that bolts on the head to tend to snap off really easy so you might as well watch out for that just needs alot of TLC when putting those bolts back on.

if you plan on eventually selling the dormant engine you should put a lil oil into the spark plug holes and turn it over by hand
