hey guys just wondering if you could explain to me what the differences are between the H22 and H22a? i realise that the H22 is the US version and the H22a is the japanese version but what are the mechanical differences? the reason i am asking is that i would like to know if i can use the same parts for both? e.g. rods, pistons, sleeves? cheers

The US tend to omit the "a1" when they quote engine numbers

no

bu the number deisgnates what model it was in

h22a1, h22a4, 5, 7, 8 are what cars, and what market

slight differences in power and appearence, but not much

There is still a difference. Like what trism said, there are many variants of h22a. Japan also has a few versions, with the h22a from the Type S having nicer parts than the h22a from a VTIR. The problem with Japan is that every engine is a "h22a". They don't have the last number to differentiate between variants like the other countries.

so all h22's use the same internals yes? just different models for different cars?

as far as i no, i was shopin around for a H22a for my civic for a while and never noticed or was informed of differences between parts in all the H22a engines, thats just in my experience

compression changes too!!

ok so if i was to get a set of US CP low compression turbo pistons and a set of US eagle H beam rods both for H22, i could use them on my AUS H22a correct and it will not matter?
