Hi guys, i heart the s2000, its my realistic dream car. dream could come true soon as they seem more affordable.
Just wondering though, they are getting old, almost 10 years. with most having about 110km on them. just wondering: \
1/ how good are these motors?
2/ how long do they last?
3/ whats a STANDARD rebuild roughly cost drive in drive out?
4/ looking to get a compression test done, whats a comp reading for these motors?

thanks in advance

110 k is nothing for a motor...
1. depends how they have been treated but hondas are pretty tough
2. last 250-300+ depending on condition
3. not sure
4. not sure

Forget the Ks. Not important. Look at the condition of the rest of the car and gauge how it has been treated.

yeah kms are not a big issue as my last car 1998 s14a had 165,000km on the clock, an the motor was in tip top condition. just wanted to know a bit more about these motors

can anyone tell me when the engine number is on the motor?

If you're standing in front of the car it is on the front right of the block just behind the tensioner pulley.

I rebuilt a F20C about a year ago. It was a good clean block that allegedly burnt some oil. I had it honed and rebuilt with new rings, bearings and bolts. Also reco'd the head with new valve seals and (what are those things at the top of the valves called) from an AP2.

All up it cost me about $2500 but I did all the work myself and the machining was done by a friend.
