Hey, im lookin 4 a front swaybar for my dc4 teg n checked out some products by whiteline n found three different types, hav no idea what the difference is n which will fit. The options are:
Swaybar h/duty Blade adjustable VTi-R ball-joint/pin link type 24mm
Swaybar h/duty Gsi double pin link 24mm
Swaybar-X h/duty Blade adjustable Vti-R ball joint/pin link type 27mm
Im leaning towards 1 of the 24mm ones but mainly tryin 2 figure out if theres an advantage with havin the ball-joint (if it fits).
As far as i know the Vti-R n Gsi stock front sways are identical but which of these options will fit right on with no other mods? The prices are very similar so thats not an issue.

itd be safest to go with the GSi specific product as it will be made to fit, 24mm is a good size too, the 27 is a special oversized variant whiteline make for track cars and psychotic street cars

yeah thats what i was thinkin 2, i cant go wrong wit the gsi 1, just thought there might b an advantage of havin ajustable ball join vti-r brace.

you could be right, but i'd give whiteline support a call and ask whether it will fit your Gsi (my guess is yes)

hey Paul, if your front is same as VTi-R then it's 24mm already (also same as Type R + JDM '96 ITR), have you upgraded the rear yet?

yeah im bout 2 order the full package 4 my rear, dc2r sway + asr + function7s... thought id upgrade my front... i'll check it out but i was always under the impression that dc2 n dc4 had 20mm n dc2r had 24.
I'll hav a look at mine n make sure, but yeah its not thin so ur prolly right.

when I changed my front to Type R 24mm it was identical to my original and didn't feel any different. You'll love it when it's done :D

lol well i just had a look at mine n from a rough measurement it looks like either 18 or 20mm which means...
bad news- hav 2 spend money
good news - room 4 improvement :)
if u have urs still layin around feel free 2 send it my way, got itr tein ss recently n good rubber so lovin the handling atm even as it is!

s'all good, ud think the whiteline would hav 2 b a bit more rigid anyway.. just thought id snap it up coz i get a decent discount at cartoys til the 13th of dec.

the dc2 front sway is 24mm same as the ITR

Try removing the front swaybar. You might like the way it handles without.
And regarding the ITR vs VTi-R front bars: Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the ITR has ball-joint endlinks where the VTi-R does not.

you're probably right i only meant the size
what advantage do ball-joint endlinks have?

i measured my dc4 bar n its actually 22mm... dnt think i'll b takin it off, cant c that it will handle better without.

There's no doubt it will handle better - the reason I don't run a front sway-bar. If you still have stock springs (or lowering springs) it might remove too much roll stiffness leaving lots of body roll, but as long as you have the front suspension travel you'll have less understeer and considerably better ability to put power down out of corners.

Yes that is what he is saying, and in some situations it is probably true. I would be wary of doing it in a car with stock or soft springs without much negative camber because the front may roll excessively putting the outside front tyre into positive camber which will probably cause understeer.
Running no front bar is designed to move the bias of roll stiffness significantly rearward and go some way to erasing the siginificant understeer bias that most factory fwd cars have. If you have an aftermarket rear sway bar and stiffer springs the amount of oversteer could be more than you desire so tread with caution.

It's not just a matter of "reduced understeer", it makes the front-end much more independant. A bump on the right will no longer affect the grip, or movement of the chassis on the left. It turns it into a different car and you might like it. As has been repeated already, you do lose total roll stiffness so more body-roll and suspension travel needed.

yeah i understand what u guys r saying, i guess it comes down 2 what sorta driving thats planned 4 the car... im preparing 2 take the car 2 the track where theres minimal bumps so stiffness is prolly something im after n i kno it sounds weird but i encounter more oversteer in my car than understeer.
Currently running on front, rear strut braces n boot brace, tein ss shocks n stock 22mm n 14mm sways.
I think the tyres made that difference coz before changing 2 lightweight rims n grippy tyres understeer was quite significant.
I think getting rid of a bit of weight in the back (heavy sub/amp n spare tyre) should even it out 2 pretty much perfect... still plannin on upgrading 2 ITR rear sway too.
but yeah at this stage the handling is decent but the car sways both front n rear a fair bit.
