Can anyone who got it installed give me some feed back?
Is it ok during rainning session(Cairns)?
And how does it sound like?

Thanks

K&N apollo is a enclosed pod filter which sits inside the engine bay.
You can use the standard rubber piping for it otherwise you need to customise it to suit the sensors.

the force feed pipe with trumpet is just a black coated aluminium about 2.75" dia. + funnel/trumpet adapter is to be connected up to the pod filter enclosure and feeds cold air to it.

You will not have much water and moisture going into it so you should be fine.
But before hand what water levels do you get in cairns? flash floods? height level of water?
If just pissing down rain you should be fine, but either way you should be fine since the filter sits high above most flood levels that are <1m

BTW if you have a luxury you may find it hard to install the force feed pipe since there is not much room to play around with unless you customise your force feed like how member DRU has done. PM him if you want details as his got an Apollo too.

K&N is a reputable brand for high quality filters, compared to the AEM one i had it has better flow which helped increase the throttle response a bit. With this Apollo CIS you will need to get a K&N recharge kit if you want to replace as i've searched on their website but couldn't find any replacement pods since this pod is a triangular oiled filter.

Hope this helps and sorry for it being a bit long winded.

Cheers,
Darren

DRU is currently on holidays, i'm driving his car at the moment while my tranny is getting a rebuild.

Throttle responce is deffiently heaps better, also sounds very nice :) The pricing is very reasonable as well. :D

I'll get some pics for you later...

Sorry about the quick aside, but whereabouts can I pick an Apollo up? Do any vendors here do k&n filters? or would rocking down to the nearest repco/supercheap have one?

Sorry I'm new here, please be gentle...

no they won't have them in stock normally, there are a few places around sydney who have them not sure about other locations.

price ranges from $200-250.

you'll need to search on google, i bought mine from www.modyourcar.com.au as that was the cheapest and they had it on sale free with free shipping.

or i know that american autoparts in hombush area has it.

Thank you so much for the feed back, cause I couldn't deceide between Apollo and Injen but because my Euro is an auto so I've been told Injen might lose power on low RPM, it does look like Apollo is the way to go for me.

I will give you guys a call on monday cheers for the info, BTW are there any brackets and things I will need to buy to fit the apollo?
you may need to fabricate a ring bracket so it holds the end of the pod up, but i am unsure as my setup is slightly different to urs as i have the RBC intake manifold.

i haven't had time to make a proper bracket so i am driving with it on (1x 45deg coupler, my old AEM SRI aluminium pipe, 1x 90deg coupler then pod) it loose.

But i have a tshirt blocking the intake from hitting the battery and chassis.

Will make a bracket during the holidays but i'll take a photo of it before and after for you. Wait til i get home from work tonight for a before shot.

One more noob question did you cut your plastic cover? the one next to stock foggy? or it's ok to place the pipe behide it with out cutting it?

One more noob question did you cut your plastic cover? the one next to stock foggy? or it's ok to place the pipe behide it with out cutting it?

I told you earlier that i can't use the standard pipe as you see the RBC Intake manifold sits alot higher up then the stock RBB (longer runners), and i tried the stock pipe it won't make it around the battery on the RBC.

But if you don't change your intake manifold then the stock pipe will fit as it has a hose clamp/T clamp on it or you can chuck your own on.

No i didn't cut it out, atm i am running a 100mm aluminium flex pipe from next to the radiator running along where the resonator was and then back up to the pod.

Once i get my kit put on i will fix the whole intake kit to the front bumper as i am removing the foglights and blanking the windscreen washers out.

Hope this helps.

lol I thought it will be eazy but found out I also need a silicone adaptor as well cause the outlet from the apollo is a bit smaller then standard pipe, however, got a quote from a local tunning shop that they will do the whole thing for $100~150 in clude putting brackets. What do you think Crapdaz?

An other stupid question what's the size of the stock pipe that join up with the apollo I'm thinking to get some sort of reducer for it

Nice to see other people using the Apollo.
You'll need a 2.75" to 3" reducer to put between the Apollo and the standard intake arm. And I just used a t bolt clamp to clamp it down.I'm still overseas, post up some pics when I get back.I didn't cut my fog light for the air feed either. Me and tp made up a fibreglass copy of the mugen air scoop which redirects air from the right side of the radiator (viewed from front) into the velocity stack.
Btw hello from hong kong! Ive seen one euro r here. Mercs, ferrari and porsches are everywhere.
I'll post up some pics when I get back.

not worth the $100-150, just buy parts and DIY it.
As dru has mentioned you need a reducer coupla in the size he mentioned but i am just running pure 3" silicone adapters using the T clamp or known as hose clamp to clamp down tight and it works fine.

recommended silicone hose dealer : cheapest i found was www.streettuned.com.au (http://www.streettuned.com.au) for silicone hose i picked up some for $20 each section better than your $60 from supercheap/autobarn.

Provide me some pics so i have some idea what your on about as i am very bad in imagining also so i can see clearance!
If there is enough room you can stock tube > hardened plastic tube > 3" to 2.75" coupler >pod

I got a 2.75" to 3" reducer but 2.75" isn't big enough for the Apollo end it's same size with the Apollo inlet do I need to stretch it? I've never done DIY on my car so got no idea

Thought i might just hi jack this thread,

i am considering buying the apollo, but i live in Central QLD and we flood if we just piss in the dam, so a CAI would be a bad idea.

so would the apollo work for me, and if so could i get a brief explanation on how to put it together and the extra parts i would need?

sorry for being a noob

thanks
