Hi all. I ordered a new CU2 Euro Luxury Navi manual on the 22nd of August and was told that because it was a special order it would be between 2 - 4 months before it got here. On the contract it has an estimated delivery date of the 15th of December. I have been in constant contact with my dealer, but they are still not able to get a definate date as they say Honda Australia are a bit slow in updated delivery times. My questions are:
1. For anyone who has had to order a car in, have they been able to know what stage there car is at at any given time?
2. How long has it generally taken to get a car in that is not in stock?
The reason I ask is that I am getting pretty fed up with getting the run around from both my dealer and Honda Australia and am on the verge of cancelling my order and buying a different make of car. I know quite a few other makes can tell you exactly where your car is at any given time.
Any help and advise would be appreciated.

I waited 4 months for my Toyota VX Prado TD last year. The wait is over 6 months now so im told.
I waited 3 1/2 months for my CL9 back in '04.
There is no way to know when your car is ready until your car is allocated to the dealership. The wait seems to be 3 - 4 months typically.

Generally dealers are only given production months from a manufacturer, with the vehicles being built in Japan it takes approx 20 days on the water, it is not until the car lands in Australia that a dealer would be able to give you more information or an approx date of the vehicle arriving at the dealership, the more cars on the boat the process can sometimes take longer also as the vehicles still have to go through a process here in oz.
So obviously it depends a lot on what time during the month the vehicle is built and how many are on the boat.............Believe me the dealer would be just as keen as you to deliver the car, they want your money in the bank as soon as possible. Try to be patient, it'll be worth it.

Sadly my patience is starting to wear a bit thin. I remember when my wife ordered a Mazda 3, she received postcards 'from' her car letting her know where it was at all times. I also believe with Ford you can actually track your Falcon coming down the production line, which is why I can't understand why they have no idea where my car is.

I receive my CL9 in like 2 weeks after paying the deposit....
I think you would have to wait longer cause mostly Euro Luxury Navi that come in are probably Auto, so they would have to ship in one for you...
ask for freebies cause you are still not getting your car after the promise date

I have asked for freebies, but I am basically being told tough. The salesperson that I originally dealt with has left the dealership, so this is also complicating things. The original salesperson also promised floor mats (I stupidly didn't ask for it on the original contract) but now I am being told that if it is not on the original contract, I won't be getting them. It is the attitude of the dealership that is annoying me the most to be honest.

unfortunately, yes, you have to get the salesperson to put everything in writting.
so, while you might not get your mats, you might be able to walk into the dealership, to discuss about cancelling your order.. since, they cannot fulfil the 15 Dec delivery date. that is when you can start making your demands. be prepared to cancel your order on the spot.
if you definitely want the car, buy from another dealership... start your 'negotiation' from there... this does not make your wait any shorter, though. however, if your manual luxury navi model is already on its way to you, the other dealer may just grab that for you..

Firstly, mate be greatful you didn't go for a European car....
My CL9 took about a month for delivery as they had it in stock...
But my GTI was another story... estimated delivery was 6 months, until they located one in Australia with similar specs just two extra doors, and that still took just under 2 months!
be patient

F that, Steve just has to wait.......
Refund isn't going to get him a car any quicker. ;)

Trust me, I have thought of that. I have thought of just cancelling the order and buying the non-Navi Luxury model instead, I believe there are a few of those around.

When I odered my CL9 that was right when they bring out the 07 model with the Black on Black I was told I need to wait for 1 month as the car is making it's way, if the dealer ship can not deliver the car on the date it's on your contract we will be able to ask them for a lots of freebies. you can also let them know if they do not wish to give you some extras for not giving you your car on time you have no problem to cancel your oder and buy a car else where they should be freaking out quite badly

not sure about that, expect prices to rise more likely..........Toyota and Ford already have, it's only a matter of time till the rest do.

due to the AUD been so bad against other currencey I think best thing to do is stick with your oder but try to get some extras from them, after all they are the one who can't give you your car on time.

thats right navi models are made to order.
not many people purchase navi models, so they dont stock them in hand.
I waited 6 weeks for my CL9 Standard 5AT in 2004 and waited 3 months for CRV Luxury 5AT in 2007. I waited 6 weeks for a WRX MY1997 and almost lost it to someone in Melbourne because they are more important than people in Darwin.

prices can rise as much as they want but if the cars aren't selling ,then a bargain can be had to get rid of the over supply atm.

well that may be true if you are buying a locally built car, but the importers don't have an oversupply issue, they have already reduced their orders months ago

I have seen from some of the prices people on here have paid for the new CU2's that they have got better pricing than me, so I don't think I will be any worse off if I cancelled the order and went somewhere else. I think all car makers are feeling the pinch now, so there are definately some good deals around.

The key to getting a sharp deal is to buy /order what the dealer has in stock or what they have arriving within the next few weeks.

Is breaking contract that easily? Or did you just put deposit down?

I put a deposit down, but I noticed in the contract that there is a clause saying that if the car is not delivered within two weeks of the specified date, I can cancel my order and get a full refund. Therefore, if they can't deliver the car by the 29/12, which is starting to look like they can't, I can cancel the order and get my money back.
Believe me, if they can't get the car to me by the 29th, the order will be cancelled.

Hi SteveH, its good that you have that clause on your contract to back you up.
I waited for 2.5 month for my Manual Lux CL9 back in 2003 when the car is still in ultra high demand. I needed the car for my new job as I could no longer car pool with my brother. The delivery happened 1 week later than promised date, the dealer gave me a Jazz free loan car to get around on my request. Cancelling the contract was NOT my option at the time because I needed the car for my wedding, which happened 2 weeks after the delivery of the car.

Just spoke to the dealership. Originally the stock controller asked me to call her today to get an updated delivery date, however when I rang today, she has conveniently had an RDO. Spoke to the new car sales manager and he is saying the car will be released to the dealership on the 31/12 and I should have it in early January. Basically told them they could go stick it and that they are not complying with the contract.
He is getting onto Honda Australia now and I am waiting for a call back. This just keeps getting worse.

When I bought my CU2 Lux Nav Auto, I placed the order on a Monday & picked the car up on the Saturday Morning. Very lucky that they had what I wanted in stock I guess. Now got 10k on it & love it. Nothing else on the market can match it IMO.
