I just installed a brand new distributor on my vtir, old distributor died in the middle of the road. Now the engine light is always on when driving.
I have also check the error code, its giving 9 CYP - Cylinder sensor error.

Will this new distributor be causing this error or is it something else?

Reset the ECU & try again...
If it's still there, see that there is no damage to the loom to dissy or near ECU.
It's possible you purchase a dud, but if new, it's unlikley.
If it's a remanufactured dissy rather than new, again there is a chance it's a dud.
Try the reset 1st.

Done the ECU reset & checked the wires & connectors, the engine light is still on as before.

new dizzy or a 2nd hand dizzy or recon dizzy

when you say new, you mean "I went to Honda and bent over and bougth a new Dizzy for $xxx and now I get code 9" not a recon or aftermarket dizzy

CYP is an error for one of the signals in the dizzy.

Very rare for that to happen to a new OEM honda dizzy.

It is a new aftermarket dizzy.
you need an extra digit for an oem dizzy from honda! $XXXX ffs!

It is a new aftermarket dizzy.

that would be your problem

it could be wired wrong or have a faulty sensor

they don’t pay them kids much in Taiwan to assemble them

1st step would be to take it back and get another one.
