ok i got a front lip and side skirts in fibreglass which are sprayed in 2pac hifiller blue. I've dummy fitted it, and its a hard fit, (scratches some paint off the front bumper trying to snug it in.. cars black)
Is it possible not to sand it back and primer it? Just say, primer and put the new paint on top? The kit has never been put on a car, so there's no scratches n that.
Or do i have to sand it back, primer and repaint and clear coat it.
And with paint, should i find the color coded black 2pac hifiller with my car? Since i heard it has better durability.
Basically its like a mugen lip, and that i can't put screws on the bottom, cause its a big gap from the bumper to the bottom of the lip, so.. should i double sided tape the part that "clips/hangs" onto the front bumper grill part.. and just screw the sides?
There are no screw holes in the kit. I initially wanted to screw it from the bottom to the front bumper, but can't. Cause i want the lip to.. HOLD. Don't want some wanker coming along, un doing the bolts on the side and jibbing it..

primer and paint should be fine. as long as its done right you shouldnt have any issues.
dont use double side tape or clips to hand the upper part that sits on the bumber grill. drill holes and use a pop rivot gun. best way to do it, strong and keeps the lip straight. after using the pop rivots use some touch up paint on the rivots. looks nice and clean.
use the screws on the sides of the lip and use touch up paint on it as well.
the method stated above will keep your lip on your bumper even if you drive carlessly hitting the lip. and no tosser can take that lip away.
need any more info pm me and i shall help you out.
hope that helps.

so the lip and skirts are sprayed in blue? is there a top clear coat on it to?
I would do some sanding with fine grit paper, like 1200~ and make sure the surface is perfect. the end result will depend on how much prepping and patience you have.
when painting make sure you do many light layers, instead of thick few layers...also there is sanding required at the primer stage, but not the actual colour painting stage.
the lip should be a tight fit, if it was loose, it would easily fall off...btw every little imperfection shows up on black so keep that in mind when painting/sanding.

Yea thanks guys.
Well i think the lip was oven heated/dried. Cause it was painted for around $400, but never put onto the car. If i don't sand it down, and just primer it and paint it, would there be much difference in the end, compared to sanding it down heaps, and primer, sand, primer, sand and yeah.
Yeah imperfections pretty bad on my car, a lot of scratches when u come up close, and a big mark on the front bumper, so i am thinking, some where down the track, get the whole front bumper with the lip on resprayed professionally.
There is like hand size area, where front bumper has been scraped, and it looks like touch up paint to be covered (previous owner). So yeah

also one more thing, what can i do to make the fibreglass more durable? so it doesn't crack as easy..?

heres the pic
i don't know, im kinda of unsure if to install it or not since its fibreglass..
how fragile is it? because i don't really ever nudge/hit into things, but i dunno, since the lip makes the car lower to the ground at the front, it might. bleh, opinions?
just install/take it, or sell it?

i had a fibreglass lip before too, damaged the crap out of my bumper evertime it scrapes it will bush against the paint of your bumper eventually scratching all the paint off,
to make the lip last longer, id say to not put too many screws in and allow room for the lip to move, that way if u hit something like a speedhump it wont crack the lip as bad

one of my mates eg has a fiberglass lip on it and its fine. as long as you take care when driving and make sure you angle the car when going over bumbs youll be alright. but for a couple of days till you figure out the right angle and get a feel of the lip being there its sure to touch the floor. but by the looks of the pic you have alot of clearence and you shouldnt have to worry. if your on stock shocks and springs make sure you go easy on those bumbs. coilovers on that height youll be fine mate.
i would personally settle for the fiberglass since its strong. but some people prefear the plastic since its hard to damage.

i stongly disagree with keeping your lip loose and not properly fitted on.

Hmm yeah, i saw that when dummy fitting it and moving it around, it was marking some of my paint off, leaving white lines.. zzz, but yeah, idunno, probably get some black masking tape for those areas, and then put on the lip, mite do less damage. but then again, my front bumper will need a respray down the track, since the scrape on the side.. well i dnno, gotta trial and error, so i'll see how that goes.. kinda borderline if i should put this on or not.. gahh
i dunno, i'll try fit it properly and see how it goes.. thanks for opinions and advice guys
thanks for the compliment shogun
