any idea for installing gauges (Oil pressure, Oil temp, A/F ratio) on CL9? electrical type gauges.
Thanks

For oil temperature, you can use a sandwich plate.
For oil pressure, it is a bit more tricky because a sandwich plate will only show you upstream pressure unless you get a special one with a port that goes into the downstream side (some people claim this exists, I have not seen one myself). Alternative is to plug a T-piece into the oil pressure switch port and then run the switch on one side and the oil pressure sender on the other. If it is only for bling, then plug the sender into the oil sandwich plate.
For A/F ratio, you need to weld on a port upstream of the cat and install the wideband A/F sender that hopefully comes with the gauge.
For power, run +ve off the cigarette lighter line, the ground to the bolt on the chassis just on the left of the headunit and the light wire to the small bulb in the ashtray compartment.

aaron - was there any additional fabrication required or was it just a buy saber gauges and install them straight away ??

generalized wiring diagram:
red - ignition (usually connect to ciggie lighter)
orange - illumination (connect to anything that turns on when u turn on your eadlights)
black - ground
green - function (to pressure sender or temp sender)
oil pressure = need oil sandwich plate usually 50bux
water temp = need water temp sender adapter around 20-25
oil temp = just share one of the port from the sandwich plate
happy gauge'ing buddy

The pressure gauge that I had required a long wire extension from the sender to the gauge. That's 2 pieces, one long one for signal, and a shorter one for the ground because you can connect the ground to the chassis in the engine bay.
The wire goes through the wiring grommet just behind the glovebox. You can see it from the engine bay. It's a rubber grommet with a round plastic frame inside it. Getting the wire through is a bitch, getting the grommet back on is an even bigger bitch!
I left the gauge in the centre compartment because I already had a hole drilled in the back of the compartment. You might have to find a way to route the wires around if you don't want to drill holes.
If you buy Saber gauges, check that all the gauges are the same generation. When I bought mine, the temperature gauge was different to the pressure gauge! One could measure peak, while the other couldn't. One dims while the other turns blue when the lights are turned on. :(

It doesn't plug into OBDII port. It should have the same requirements with senders to be installed. I prefer Defi.

how do the sensors get attached just wondering?
Do you have to replaced any piping to a T junction to attached them?

Sensors are 1/8" NPT. You need a 1/8" BSP t-piece, with 1 male and 2 female. The oil pressure switch goes straight on with thread sealant, while the sender needs a NPT to BSP adapter before going onto the T-piece. Then when all is done, you have the proper pressure reading, but a risky assembly because it can snap off when the car goes through bad bumps. For me, I used the oil sandwich plate, so I get a reading from the oil pump to the filter only. My gauge tells me that my oil pump is still working, it doesn't tell me if my engine is getting enough oil pressure. :(

Doubt it. It should use sensors because the Euro doesn't have a pressure sender, only a pressure switch.

its so easy, this was first mod i did to my civic eg5,
you can buy everthing u need from speco thomas, autobarn has this brand and its good quality and australia and cheap. just tell them your car model and they can do the rest.
then purchase some thread sealant, 8 dollar or so, get high temp one btw.
the rest of the instructions are in the box of the gauges, easy.

lol about the same. but the way it work is the same also but the price for defi is about 1.2k for 3 gauges plus a control unit
Accord Basic
12-12-2008, 04:30 PM
that is expensive, i can get all 3 gauges c/w sensors of course for about 210 , and I might get the tachometer for another 100 approx. but need time and instruction for wiring and install. even I can have some extra for an auto electrican to install for me.

wiring is a lot cleaner in cabin, cause its a single wire thats going to the gauge, because its running off a control unit. but other brands are individual so more messy in cabin

Defi is good because you can daisy chain the gauges, thus leaving very little wiring to clutter your cabin. The gauges also run much cooler than the cheaper Saber gauges.

go and buy them, and we will guide you through it lol. the first time i did this i was 15 years old. lol and it was on motorbike, it looks complex i know but its not hard at all. you made me feel sorry for you lol.
just need to buy the 3 gauges from that brand if you want that look.
3 gauges,
high temp thread sealant, all autobarns got it,
sandwich plate, autobarn has it
water temp adapter.
and now some wire.
all this shit is at autobarn off the shelf, or u can just tell them what car you got and they will sort out sandwhich plate and water temp adaptor. They can probably install for you if your not that confident

i remeber this fag once ages ago tried to overtake my mum from the left on a 2 lane turning into one lane road, he came up beside and had all these TYPE R brand gauges on his shitty ford fiesta or something, sounded like it was hitting the limiter, and my mum was just driving normal and the guy couldnt overtake lol.~
