Has anyone done it themselves? The single rubber horizontal rubber piece under the Windows on both doors is all faded and grey (similar to my Wipers).

Is this an easy job? How do I replace them?

Thanks

is this an eg hatch or sedan? dont know bout sedan, but ek and eg hatch i know for sure it chipps off to a chrome sill, not rubber.
I have the same problem as most with aging..im intending to sand it and repaint it, otherwise use some black cloth tape. I remember a diy on this here..try searching for it.

EG Hatch

I didn't realize it was steel behind it. But you're right, it's chipping back to the metal (same as the wipers). I was hoping I could just buy a new steel with fresh black over the top thingy.

I'll search for a couple DIY's. I don't know what the part is called, so that doesn't help.

On EK's at least, Mr Honda wants big $$$ for it. $300 from memory.

A product like 'Forever Black', or even shoe polish might go some way to restoring it.

There's a channel in there which you can:
a) clean up real good, there's gonna be dirt caked right at the bottom so use a cloth and a paddle pop stick to get it out.
b) lube up (silicone spray) some silicone airline tubing and shove it down there. It'll restore the seal against the window glass.

Save your money for the window rail rubbers which, in time, will cause your electric window's to slow down to the point of failing.

get a relevant copy of the Helm's manual. It'll pay for itself on no time.
