Hey all,

Just Purchased a BLACK 2007 Civic type R and traded in my golf R32.

Joined the cult which you all know as HONDA! haha

Definiately a change for me but dont regret it at all, am completely satisfied with my purchased and love driving the car!

First thoughts of the new civic type R, its really comfortable to drive, practical, head turner, for the right reasons i hope. Although abit more torque and KW wouldve been good I satisfied with the its power output being a n/a 2.0L. Dang! only if they put the S2000 engine in it. Looks wise, i guess its not for everyone but I like it.

Plans for my car; Nothing Mods wise just cosmetic stuff. Am planning lowering mine (coilovers) probs 1.5" or just 2" with black 18" Konig race wheels. and maybe whack in a sub for extra bass.

Hoping to put some pics up or youtube vids soon when I've put the wheels on.

Does it feel like a big change going from an R32 Golf to a CTR? I know R32's are pretty decent cars ect. How does it compare with the current cars around corners?

Im guessing it'll leave it for dead on the straights.

'grats on the purchase

So why did you tade in a r32 v6 AWD for a civic???

MKI4EVA
17-12-2008, 09:30 AM
funny........you buy a honda and hop onto a honda board and reaslise your old car was a better car...........AHHAHahha.

Now theres some true honest ppl on here.

MKIV R32 is by far more sexy than an FN2...........and the exhaust note alone of the R32 is to die for.............lets leave it at that and not go into the handling points.

SIRFN2
17-12-2008, 10:22 AM
The Civic has better handling for sure. The r32 was just a heavy car, but dont get me wrong it still it still had great handling for a nose heavy car. The civic feels like the steering is more responsive. Definiately better in that respect.

Cant compare the power it was a AWD v6 as one of you guys mentioned.

I traded it in cos of the running costs. Petrol, servicing just to much. Thats a cost of a euorpean top of the line car i guess.

The R32 was an awesome car, but had to let it go. I love the new civic though m satisfied with the switch.

Would have kept the r32 if i no other expenses! but thats not going to happen.

Yeh i had the 2004 r 32. best sound ever but it cost too much to run! Heaps better looking than the Mk5 r32.

Thats the only reason why i traded the car.

Dont think the r32 was a better car, cant compare the 2 because there in different classes. Like comparing apples and oranges.

The owner of the servo next to where I work owns a 2004 R32, and it outdoes my car in everythingggggggg, but i like the civics to, everytime i see one i just wanna pick it up and put it over my head like a helmet and walk around saying "I Am ROBOCOP" Or "Optimus Prime comming through bitchessss"

MKIV R32 is by far more sexy than an FN2...

Totally disagree... the r32 is so bland and that IMO is about the whole range of VW... the main reason i didnt buy it... i wanted something with different looks which will always catch peoples eye...
But it is personal preference and the R32 is just another car on the road to me...I reckon it does sound nice as hell alot nicer then my type r but thats not what i was buying the car for...

and maybe whack in a sub for extra bass.

Have a look at my type r box for sale if your interested might be what u want...

we're you ever on vwvortex.....theres an australian section there.

your very honest. respect!...........VW and euro cars are INSANE in terms of upkeep cost!........

I was at EC recently in the MKI and a friend in a modded MKIV R32 managed a 1:53...........

yes the stering in the newer civic platforms are exceptional. I also have a FD2 as well.

fair enough if your sensible enough to buy something that makes more economical sense.

ahaha

yeh i was, thanks man..yeh just too much, i had a quote for brake pads and they were like 250 a pop. The brakes on the r32 were massive like an EVO.

Good forum, not many mk4 r32 in sydney. Black esp.

Just personal perference i guess.

Exactly, congratulations on your purchase.I'm sure you will enjoy it.
It would stand to reason that your previous car would have more straight line speed than the FN2 but the FN2 is quite fun to drive.
I now rarely post on these OZHONDA because compared to other forums it's SHITHOUSE, really it is!
Anything that you post regarding the FN2 -good or bad-you have the same tiresome anti-FN2 arguments so much so that they are wearing thin. Some arguments are direct while others are more subtle. The Fn2 is very good car it's not as fast as the FD2 Type R but that's what we've been given in Australia. The FN2 handles well and looks IMHO,unique!
I looked at other cars before buying the CTR,including the GTI,but at the end I chose the Civic -and I don't regret it at all.

Fasthonda.

Thanks man, yeh im enjoying the car alot. Definitely not as fast in a straight line yes.

Yeh i know what your saying about those same comments and arguments haha. I been through all the treads regarding the FN2R.

My GF has got the GTI, awesome car i drive heaps too, if she didnt have it i wouldnt gone for that. But im still satisfied with my buy.

Lowered mine on the KW v2 coilovers just recently. You won't need to go lower than 1.5". PM for pics

Ok thanks for the tip m going to lower only 1.5" was kinda figuring coz Honda's sit low stock. I will post pics when the car is all done with the wheels.

wow omg hectic.

dude good buy, and sure if u couldnt afford the running costs of the R32 then u have made the right choice. heaps of people look at the price of a car, then dont realise that there are heaps of other costs associated with different types of cars, so i respect your decision to down? grade to something almost as good, with its better and worse points.

however i wouldnt really call an R32 Golf a top of the line european car.. its a golf.

SIRFN2
23-12-2008, 09:39 PM
yeh thanks, haha yeh its the top of the line golf! its as good as...

Yeh i was gonna get a civic sport like yourself but i wanted abit more power so i went for the type r.

considered the Golf GTI, but i've never really considered owning a turbo...more of a N/a person. The type R was exactly what i was looking for.

I've converted to honda, I will only consider an S2000 or next generation Civic type R for my next car haha

my mate just got a new one in DSG, and we took on a modified new STI, absolutely chopped it! DSG and launch control and AWD absolutely do wonders, but at the end of that day, manual would still own!

yeah civic sport u have to wring its guts out to get anything mildly decent

and we just got a turbo A4 and the lag is gay, give me N/A anyday as well

sounds good u have fun with it.
I m currently driving and MK1 TT quattro. It's pretty much the same as R32.
just the R32 with V6 NA, they both with same chasis. same suspension setup.
recently been thinking getting something newer and less running cost.
Seems Type R should be a good choice.

should go for a test drive with the R

wooow from a BMP r32 to a FN2R..

I am a fellow VW MK4 R32 owner and really enjoy the car.

Totally agree that it's a heavy hatch due to the v6 awd, which didn't really deter in purchasing the r32.

The CTR is on a different level all together.

Reason why I opt for the VW, i guess for luxury features over power and not to mention the phatness and rareness of the Mk4 esp in black.

Honda is a great company when it comes to great cars/engines and not to mention quality. But you can't really compare the 2 cars as they are both in different classes, jst my 2 cents.

I have been driven my mates FN2R and tell ya the truth its an awesome car. Definitely a drivers car. btw the CW FN2R is an absolute beauty, if only the mk4 r32 came in white i would of got one in a heart beat lol.

I also own a s2k and love it. it's for sale btw :zip:

I have a soft spot for honda's esp EP3R's, i used to be a nissan boy haha lol

At the end of the day comes down to personal preference.

Yeh Tom tom r32 i loved my R32, it was exactly like yours black! Exactly how you described how rare they are and the exhaust note was the best! But had to let it go. The FN2R does the job for a replacment for me. theyre awesome cars too. Not everyones perference in regards to the look, but i dont mind it. they go good for an N/A 2.0L. Excellent on petrol and you can still give it a little thrash!

To R123 yeh the MK4 are heaps better looking i reckon! thats why i didnt even consider the MK5 r32 as a new model! Ask TomTom r32 about servicing haha

Yeh the TT had the exact same engine...hows the TT in the running costs? i know audi and VW are pretty much the same sorta..

The new Type r is great mate, not as much power obviously but its awesome for a 2L. You have to get use to the lack of torque i have to warn ya coming from the TT and me r32.

Totally agree, exhaust note is beautiful.

In terms of servicing, pricier of course, not sure how much the dealerships are charging. But I got a vw specialist looking after my servicing/enhancements.

They're the same...the Mk4 and Mk5 have the same engine same exhaust note. Check out youtube heaps of vids on exhaust notes for the Mk5 and Mk4 r32..

But whatever you reckon man. If you think they sound like that thats fine.
