Hey,

This is my first post, this that.

I recently put a deposit on a '93 Integra Vti-R, with my first car being a CD5 Accord vti. Couldn't get enough of the vtec feeling.

Anyways, I was looking on ebay, and came across a cai:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/94-95-01-HONDA-INTEGRA-GSi-VTEC-COLD-AIR-FILTER-INTAKE_W0QQitemZ370129968563QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_ Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item370129968563&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Can somebody please let me know if this sort of CAI, will fit nicely on my car?

Thnks.

jus buy it, use it and review. it will work and sure it wont be as high quality as a $800 mugen icebox, but at the end of the day it still does the job.

thats true. on my gsi i bought an ebay SRI and replaced the filter with an apexi pod, did the job well

ebay cold air ! WIN!
its a car man. just try to make a DIY so that no water gets into the intake system.

poorer quality is only that the alluminium pipping will be pretty hot after your car is warm compared to the injen or mugen and etc.

im running the injen and its pretty good.

just get a aftermarket branded pod filter and you'll be happy mate.

cheers

What about K&N air intake any good?

k&n pod? or sri?

i've got a k&n typhoon (sri) with a k&n pod filter on my car, pretty good stuff man gives an aggressive sound and u can feel the gain

jus keep it oem , stock airbox is the way to go. my approach to this was upgrade to ITR oem intake or change panel filter to k&n

No doubt oem its the way go, but im after the sweet vtec noise, i mean put it this way, in my situation atm, i dont think i can afford an itr airbox, il keep the stock air box, anyways, so if at anytime i needa change back, can be done with no hassles.

With my old accord, i took out the old airbox, changed over with a k&n filter, but kept the oem airflow pipe( plastic rubber tube) and the vtec was roaring.

i rekon its worth it just 4 the piping alone, slap it on n then wait 4 a discount on a K&N or Apexi filter n swap it over... i done my piping myself from 3 pieces, then clamps n silicone hoses set me back almost 100 lol so i rekon go 4 it, if its anything like the 1 in the pic it should fit perfectly

i just got this, will finish putting it on by tomorrow morning and will post up on here how it goes. Initial review, it comes with all the clamps, silcone joins and support hangers. However the inside of the pipes are really dirty with polishing dust or something, so will need a good clean just to be safe. Pipe is only 2.75" not 3" but I don't think it will matter as the intake manifold inlet is only 2.75" anyways

Thats excellent, please let us know how it goes, and post up some pics.
Also if you could, tell us about any differences in your car.

the airbox is identical, a good budget system is to simply remove the resonator box and direct a cold air feed into the airbox.

it keeps it looking very stock but you wont get that really loud vtec noise..

although the integra airbox system is really good, i read an article somewhere where they run a dc2r on a dyno then they just took the top of the airbox off and ran it again and lost 5kw's.

so unless you gonna do a cold air system just having an exposed pod in the engine bay isnt worth it.

fair enough,

but seriously, i know this is annoying as fck,

but has anyone on OH, bought and tried this on?

Like did they feel any differences, response fuel economy bla bla

would be greattt to find sum1

look sorry to not answer your question but i've read so many of these types of threads that i can pretty much tell you your answer.

you'll probably get a bit more throttle response, you MAY make a tad more power(then again you could lose some because of heat soak in the engine bay), it'll make a hell more noise(in other words it'll sound awesome), and most likely.. you'll suffer from the placebo affect and think you've made more gains than you have

in short, its cheap and easy so just do it, you'll probably enjoy it more than what you have know

if for some reason you dont, remove it and return to the stock system :)

didnt u read b4? i said on my old dc4 i bought an intake off ebay and used an apexi pod instead. along with a full exhaust system i was beating vti-r's, em1's, prelude vti-r's etc, so the gains are there, but obviously nothing major

okay, so its been a week since I have put this on. I had a short ram intake before this. I have never had a stock intake system so I don't know how much of a difference between stock and aftermarket feels like. I can't feel much difference between the CAI and the SRI.

-If anything it feels a lot more restrictive then the SRI at higher revs as it was a 3" pipe.
-The CAI might be abit more responsive at low revs as its picking colder air.
-The power band seems alot smoother with the CAI
-Seems like my car is running better as its showing on the A/F ratio gauge thats its more often in the stoich range. With the SRI it was more often in the rich range.
-Fitment was okay, don't know where the brackets goes but I found a spot for them:p, its on pretty tight now with my another bracket I made just in case it moves.

Also note my car has a VAFC tuned to the SRI.

If i had a stock intake, I would definately get this CAI as its cheap for just the piping. But those with the SRI, I would just keep the SRI as its more convenient, safer and cheaper to keep. As the filter on a CAI will easily get dirty and wet.

will upload some pics later

it really doesnt make a difference how specific u get, a pipe is a pipe. it will all be around the same quality if u buy from ebay so being so specific is just wasting your time

relax buddy, what im tryna say is that any pipe u buy off ebay is going to give u roughly around the same type of results and be around the same build quality. so theres not much difference between a review based on that specific product u were interested in or the one i gave u from my experience, all im saying is just buy the thing, u dont really have anything to lose

Didn't mean to blast it at ya, but shit happens

Thanks for the replies bro, i'll buy it install it and see what happens,
upload a few pics this that, so people can learn a few things like i did

Hey mate i'm thinking about getting one of these too. The air filter I got doesn't fit in the stock air box(bit to wide) so want to look into a diy piping or eBay. As other people have mentioned any piping is good enough they do the same job. I got a 3a racing intake from motorquipe for 40bux.

http://www.australianauto.com.au/HTML/Images/Air%20Filter%20Shoot%20Out.pdf

If you're on a budget 3a racing will be good enough
