I watched a youtube vid of an 89 crx with an ek sir cluster.. Just wondering if any 89 shape crx owners on here have replaced their gauge cluster with an EK civic cluster.. If so I would like to know what's involved as far as the mounting is concerned, wiring I am not too concerned with.. unless there is something particularly painful involved.

Thanks.

to me yes it is a painful job

crx clusters use the "cable"
whilst civic's use the speed sensor

so all in all, dont think this can be done, until you have a engine conversion :)

yes it can be done! i know of one in qld and i my self will be doing it.

you need a round crx cluster so 90-91.
you need a vss (vehicle speed sensor) from a 92+ honda. (this is the module that goes into the gear box)
and of course the cluster, ek dc2 etc

the rest is wiring the pin outs and diagrams can be found online in 2 minutes with a quick search on google.

so to use the electronic vss in you cable box, you need to swap everything from your cable vss from the internal side (the bit that goes into the gearbox) over to the electronic one.

than the rest is wiring from the vss to the ecu and than to the cluster, than it's just matching the pin outs of each cluster.

all this info can be found through google most will be from the states. :)

Cheers Dems, thanks for your response.. I'll research existing info from the states, let me how you go with yours also..

So if the car already has a b16a conversion and aftermarket ECU does that make the job easier?
