i was getting some parts at honda rec down the coast and was inquiring about dc2 seats for my eg when the guy said that he had a eg in the other day wrecked that had prelude seats in it. he said it looked like they were stock and meant to be there. how is that possible? i have a set of electric prelude seats that i can use. does anyone know how to swap them in?

Seen the leather Seats in a Dc2/4 before and watched it happen.

I believe one of the rails are swappable between the DC2 and Prelude seats that cause the seats to be bolt on.

Should be a similar deal with a EG?

If you contact bennjamin he kinda watched the process aswell so he may be able to help a bit better

i've got a few days off after new years where i can attempt the swap. if i am succesful do i need to get it engineered? it is a oem honda seat and in the past i have swapped stock vr seats for oe calais ones and never even batted an eyelid about it but since i am modifying the rail this time do i have to?

You shouldn't have a problem with it even with modifying rails, people have bucket seats out there which are ADR approved so what's stopping you from putting in a factory seat in there ?

Cheers

so how do the electrics work? just a 12v connection is it?

yeah one to constant 12v so it works all the time not just when i have acc on. the amount you can adjust the drivers side is awesome with electric ones. infinite number of positions not just clicks. you can adjust front/back, back bit's tilt, seat up and down and seat part tilt all electric and lumbar support is a lever on the side.

Good work.

Safe to assume a Write up will be coming?

I'd get them engineered as having oem recaros in a Civic from the Teg or EK9 requires a mod plate, just to be safe or cop a $2XX fine and 3 points

Looks unreal :D I'd like to find some leather DC5 seats for mine to fit in

They don't look out of place so I'd be pretty surprised if a cop even noticed, but better safe then sorry I guess.

Nice and Unique!

no diy yet till i get it engineered.

basically inside rear bolt perfect fit, inside front ground inwards towards centre console 5-7mm, outside front ground outwards towards door 5-7mm and outside rear sits above and doesn't curl down the back to where the bolts mount.

ol drill through floor pan and bolt straight through for the moment and big washers up front to cover the bit i drilled out. i have to find out what needs to be done to satisfy and engineer then i'll post a diy/review. but it at the moment is a very very solid mount just as good as factory so i feel safe leaving it like this for now and will only be seeking a mod plate when i get the seats trimmed black. at the moment in stock fabric they look like they're are meant to be there and couldn't see myself getting in trouble with the po po.

i love the amount of adjustment the drivers side has but this is also has a downside as i always forever seem to be changing the settings to suit me at that point of time which = a bit of fiddling but is good cos a can have a go kart like position for spirted sprints and a highway lounge for long drives. my missus loves the seats too tho it only has the conventional forward/back and back part tilt. my old ones needed rebolstering especially the passenger side where i have spent a few drunken nights sleeping in my car.

overall one of the best mods i have done!

rear inside - straight fit

rear outer - big guage self tapper (temporary) will not go near otherwise
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/2205/bolt3.jpg

front outside - drilled over ~5mm

front inside - driller over ~5mm

the motor does slide on the carpet but i have super plush and dynamat under that so mine would be fatter than standard. the inside plastic cover has to be removed. no sweat.

do these sit lower than the oem eg seats??? if so how much lower

55EXX

they sit substantially lower but the increased weight of these seats would offset any performance gain. been pulled over (missus got done $520 and 2 points for driving on her L's alone in it - stupid!) and gone through rbts not a single eyebrow raised at them
