What are some signs that the engine mounts are broken?
I'm getting noises, I'm suspecting it's the engine mounts.

I stopped at the traffic lights, as I drive off noises occur. The harder I accelerator as I get off the lights, the heaver the noise.

Could you be more specific? What type of noises? Knocking? Rattling? Whirring?

could be loose bearing in the cv joint,
if your engine mounts are broken, turn off the car and shake the engine.
if it moves quite alot, then you'll need em replace.
best get a mechanic to take a quick diagnosis.
for a quick diagnosis get a mate pop open the hood, pop up the hand brake, press the brakes, put it in drive and accelerate to make the engine move. If there is excessive movement you should be able to see which mount is broken. If the engine stays stil then your in the all clear .
Old mounts are going to move but there is a big difference between old and broken mounts!
* BE CAREFUL THAT YOU DON'T ROLL FORWARD AND HIT YOUR MATE! KEEP YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKES

Could quite possibly be in relation to the CV Joints.
I remember accidentally accelerating abit harder coming off a speedhump and the noise would be louder from the sudden acceleration.
Noises would be more like a creaking noise, a noise like that of a rocking boat creaking.
Any idea?

if its a knock it could be steering rack or CV joints.
is it just one Noise? or does it come on and off when accelerating

u can c if ur engine mounts r buggered. they will be cracked that is the same in all hondas ive worked on....
but sayin that its hard to diagnose something without hearing it a noise can be so many things and mean so much to other people...
for example me and my mate were talking i need to do my wheel bearing he says if its a squeal its ur brakes but if its a whine its the wheel bearing but i was thinkin its the same thing.... similar situation...

See if on hard acceleration and bumps is when you can primarily hear the noise. That's how we could tell with our forester. Unfortunately I didn't notice on my teg lol....probably as a combination of my hard sussy + exhaust never noticed lol.
try what rawr suggested, or see if when you rev the throttle cable there is much movement of engine.

u would c it more in ur forrester because of the engine characteristics because its a boxer it moves more then a inline 4 cly look at a wrx or similar next time its gettin started and u can c how much they move...
