Hi guys,

Need some advice. Just had a mishap with a joey (baby kangaroo) on the warrego hwy.
Hit my right bumper when I tried to avoid. It damaged my right fog light & totally lost its black plastic housing holding the fog. Bumper a little misaligned+small crack, but was able to mend it back to shape after some pushing/pulling. Also my headlight washer sys is leaking (there is a broken plastic connector) when testing the washer doesn't pop up as there is a leak when the pump is on. Washer on the windscreen is ok.

Question is:
How much to replace the whole housing with the fog light? Should I go to Honda or the local repair shop?
Will Honda repair the washer too?

What a present for Christmas!

I think the cheapest alternative would be to buy the parts from Honda and replace everything yourself, unless there's more damage than meets the eye.

The repair place would probably get the parts from Honda anyway. So they'll end up charging you the price for the parts plus more for their labour.

I would say Honda dealer also. I wouldnt think you could get something like that aftermarket and if its looks easy to take off and put back on anyone with simple tools could do it.

headlight washer itself - $280 bucks.. plus labour to install...

foglight housing - prob around the $200-300 mark (think they only come in pair)

:( sorry to hear buddy

not sure if you have any wreckers around your area or even try contacting some via phone and seeing if they have euros around and if they can ship, that would be the cheap way of getting the parts you need.

thx for the replies, did a thorough check today.

Headlight washer sys was leaking coz a plastic pipe tee (pump supplying to left & right washer) has broken off. Small matter but the dent on the washer bottle doesn't seem to leak. Good sign.

Had a check with the local repair shop, still waiting for quote (roughly about 2-300 for the bumper coz its misaligned and found several cracks), he needs to check the fog lamp & housing cost from honda.
Have decided to go for insurance claim. Forgot to ask insurance guy about the NCD, as they need to valuate the damage 1st. Excess max will be 350 depending on the damage.
Thats 3 days w/o a car :(

^ might need to drive it like that for awhile, as most smash repair joints are now closed for xmas and ny.

will it be expensive to change the bumpers to body kits instead of repairing? just a thought.

just make sure u get a good quality body kit then, not some el cheapo one that can't flex and will crack. ;)

instead of getting a new 2005 bumper, why don't u get the 2006 bumper, and add on the euro sport lip kit, and the grille. :D
