increase your price range to about 3-4k

Then add in servicing and installation.

for a price range at 1-3k you will not find a b18cr (engine + fittment + labour) unless you do all the work yourself.

I dont know how much h22a are but i think they are roughly 2k for engine block (correct me if im wrong)

So i would recommend the b16a you should find one for 1.5k + labour (if your lucky you might find a jdm one for the local price)

^^^ I'm currently doin the h swap into my 96 coupe.

h22a you are looking at least around 2.5k for front cut so ekvtec ur not far off the money.

but with the h swap comes alot more required parts. it isn't as simple a swap as the b's. if your in brisbane let me know and il give u a company that imports. otherwise for 3k you could NEARLY turbo your D. or just sell and buy a dc2r.

can't do conversions under p-plate law I thought?

ethier way, 4-5k budget is a real world figure :D

cost me about $5800 to put a b18c into an integra gsi (parts and labour). That was using a front cut

97 vti = D series
you cant just swap in a B or H series engine. your gonna need engine mounts for starters and i'd assume a gear box, linkages, wiring loom, ecu etc etc.
looking at around $3-3.5K for a B16A front cut then add shipping. and seeing you mentioned "sumthing easy to install" i'll assume you will need to get professional help at some point so add some labour costs plus other bits n pieces you'll more than likely need along the way.
so what EK1.6LCIV said would be more like the budget you're after

If you're looking for a B18CR swap then say $9k in would be a reasonable number

K swap, with todays dollar on parts from overseas, try over 20k :(
