Hey guys, I just got got my headunit replaced through insurance after my old man was in an accident and after putting the headunit back in place, the air conditioner works but it blows out warm air instead of cold.
Does anyone have any idea why?
Thanks.

Was gonna say regas after reading the title, but after reading the rest, I think not.

Tried making sure you didn't mess up any of the other cables???

Perhaps a coincidence?

try putting on climate control (Auto) and set the temp to low...

or is the compressor running??

I took it out. There's only 3 plugs into the headunit. I made sure they were on nice and tight. I was told that it may be regas but apparently it shouldn't run out that quickly. Mine's 06.

I've tried that, still no luck. When I put on the heater, hot air comes out. How do I know if compressor is running?

The installer probably knocked off one of the cables that controls your air doors.

I called up and they said they only took out the 3 plugs I'm talking about so that can't be it.

I've been told that there may be a hole in the section that holds the gas? This may be true since the car was in an accident?

How do I know if compressor is running?

when the car is idle, you can feel the rev goes up when the compressor kicks in and the revs go down when it stops

What sort of accident impact wise?

Sounds like there is a leak and it is out of gas. Japanese cars usually have a small compressor hence carry less gas. Generally, the aircon loses gas via small leaks along the system (pipes and hoses) over 4-8 years, it's normal as the pipes needs flexibility due to the movement of the car. You can have the air con checked out by an aircon specialist, what he will do is he will inject a dye into the system and wherever there is a leak, it will stain the area and you can take it from there.

Yeah, I don't feel that no more.

Hit the front, light damage. How much will this cost me do you reckon? Thanks for the help.

If its a front hit its possible the condenser has been damaged and a probable leak. Are you in Bris I can take a look and let you know.

Agreed, you should normally feel the revs change slightly due to condenser switching on/off.

So most prob as above it is damaged.

You had the head unit replaced through insurance, means they covered you for the accident. You can go back to the repair shop, and tell them to fix the A/C as well under insurance claims. No point taking $$ out of your own pockets for it, that's why you buy insurance in the first place.

easiest way to check for gas, just grab a screw driver and push in the valve on the high side pipe (thicker pipe)

even if he did, hell be looking 3-400 bux worth of assest fee. best thing to do is go to an asian mechanic n ask em for a quote. talk to ur parents. see how they wunna do it. if its more than 400 then just do it through insurance but yeah u need it fix asap cause summers gunna kick ur ass

He should have already paid the excess fees if the insurance covered him for the stereo/climate control replacement. So he should be able to get the A/C repairs done as part of the original collision damage.

I should be covered under insurance because I didn't have my headunit until like last week which means I didn't know my a/c wasn't working.. the place doesn't open up until 29th of dec so yeah.. I'll wait out.. until then.. windows down :(
