Wiper Refills on 8th Gen Civic??

Hi,

where can you get wipers refills for a Civic 06?
Local Honda service desks want to charge about $40 for a pair of inserts... which would normally cost around $10 as a generic part.

The sizes are 650mm and 575mm... the problem here is that I can't find generic wiper blades longer than 610mm.

Did Honda do this on purpose to get more money off people? You bet!

from my experience, i would spend the extra on OEM. I bought some cheap aftermarket ones for a jazz and they were crap as. Im sure not all aftermarket is the same, but im sure decent ones will cost almost the same price as OEM. IMO, stick with OEM.

try take them out, I'd pay the $40 =p fd wipers are one of the more annoying design

it's not $40 bucks for a wiper... its for the silicone inserts only.

yes overpriced when considering generic brans cost around $10 per insert and they are an item of constant wear and tear. Test it first, I'm not sure whether or not FD's have a specially designed insert.

What's the width of the inserts? If it is 8mm, then you can use PIAA wiper refills.

as far as i know, only oem Honda insert can fit FD's. no aftermarket available (yet) due to higher+wider insert design:thumbdwn:

Generic widths are 6mm and 8mm (Universal) so unless Honda really did go 7mm or something, anything will fit...

length 24 and 26 inch.
width...errr... 9 mm or 6 (???), i got mix up for width.
but for 2007 and before :
hard to find any aftermarket wiper blades other than the original. If other blades are used, the plastic covers won't fit nicely. Ugly. Furher, those plastics covers tend to break.
and for 2008 and up :
Honda eliminated all the plastics. Easier wiper blade replacement. Greater choice of aftermarket blades. better as the driver side wiper arm is shorter than 2007
and then, 2008 model came with the framed wiper, different from the 2007 and earlier batches with the frameless wiper

have u try PIAA on FD ? might fit ?
