hey guys i have a usb deck and i was wandering what portable hard drive brand could i use for it to run more gb such as a laptop hard drive is it possible rather then using just a usb stick?

be aware usb flash drives come in 32G and even 64G sizes now..

has been previously discussed - a number of issues arise:

-the deck will only be able to read up to a certain number of folders (someone previously said how many, i forget)

-you can only use the 2.5" drives which are usb powered, and some of these need 2 usb ports for power

- you may get issues with skipping as a HDD unlike a flash drive has moving parts

i have a laptop hardrive atm but it doesnt read the music so what brand laptop hd are they using?

dont think an external hdd will work, as they require use of two cables. one for the power supply and the other for the data transfer. although there are usb port extension plugs, dont think a 12v headunit can power up the hdd.
as 00dc2 said there are large size flash drives enough to have a whole music collection, otherwise an ipod compatible headunit would be better.

you could even stick a memory card reader on the other end lol, have a whole bunch of SD cards on hand
