hey guys,
I made a mistake which i am regretting now, however im hoping somebody can help me out to correct my mistake.
i own a 94 honda accord (vtec).
I had a leak around my distributor, so i decided to change the O ring (between the distributor and side of the block) and the gasket(between distributor housing and distributor) .

Before removing the housing, i marked where the housing meets the distributor so that can go back perfectly.

However, Upon removing the distributor i didnt mark the tdc position.
I tried to put the distributor back into the block, and it only goes in when the teeth are set to a certain position as you can feel the "compression pressure". So i was able to put it back into the side of the block, and now the teeth cannot move from the outside (where the housing was removed).

THE TEETH DID MOVE WHILST I WAS WORKING AND I DID NOT MARK TDC.

So basically, does the distributor only go back into the block when the teeth are at tdc, meaning i got it back into the block by moving the teeth until it wanted to fit in, does this mean the teeth are in their tdc or correct position?

if i tighten the distributor bolts, and put the housing back on (as it was correctly marked to begin with) will their be any problems related to the timing?

thanks guys, please tell me if you need me to clarify anything for a better answer. MUCH appreciated

the distributor can only go one one way,

align the dizzy drive with the slot in the cam and fit the dizzy, then set the ignition timing with a timing light. then tighten the 3 bolts

its not a hard job

you should be pretty close with the markings on the housing. Align the teeth first and then once its almost on align the dizzy to your markings. That should put you quite close to what you had before.

Should get yourself a timing light to dial it in though.

Pretty much What ECU MAN has explained.
The distributor goes in only one way as the two teeth on the dizzy dial is offset to the cam. Get a timing light and set the ignition and you'll be fine :)
