I reset my ECU last night to fix an issue with the windows. After which, I let the car idle for a good 15 minutes before taking it around the block.
Realised 2 new issues this morning:
1. The engine didn't start initially. Started 2nd time around though (could be a 1-off issue?)
2. Revs are bouncing around 600-800rpm mark when slowing down to a halt. Car shakes mildly when slowing down (though fine when completely stopped), but not so violently that it'll stall. Did the ECU re-learn an incorrect IDLE rpm?
Keeping in mind i didn't have any of these issues prior to ECU reset.

reset ecu by unplugging it?
check all connections, make sure that you didnt yank any of the wires loose
does the check engine light come up on your dash?
did you move the ecu?

Hey thanks for the prompt reply. I just d/c the negative terminal on the battery for 15 minutes. Didn't d/c anything else. Engine light does not come on, and i didn't move the ECU.

hmmm
i dont think that the base idle setting on the ecu would be doing it.
check the negative terminal for rust, tighten, as it may be lose and moving when driving.
if all else fails, remove negative terminal again, put your foot on the break 30secs, put netative terminal back on tighten, and the check for movement with your hand.
start then go for a drive.
any mods to the intake/ exhaust?

I think it'll be alright man... give it a few days, whilst the ECU reprograms itself. Drive differently, putting different loads on the engine, tame and agressive driving styles.

Thanks VTECMACHINE, i hope it's just the ECU re-learning itself over the course of several days.
I'm so noob, the thought of cleaning out the throttle body (with a DIY) just boggles the mind. Not looking forward to it at all, i'll see how it plays out over the next couple of days

If the idle doesn't improve after a bit more driving reset the ECU again and try this Idle Learn Procedure from the DC5 manual:

no worries, it doesnt sound to serious..
i have a diving idle after my build and it did go away.
only other thing that i can think of is a lose vaccum hose, but im not convinced.
Happy driving.

Agree with all the above.
If you have just installed the intake, allow sometime for the ECU to adjust. Other than that, don't look too much into it. Check your intake piping and/or tighten clamps etc.

Thanks Mitsubishi, the intake was installed a few months back. So i don't think it has an effect. Keep in mind that these issues didn't arise until after i reset the ECU.
Perhaps it just needs more time, as i have only driven it <10kms (15 minutes) after the reset.

how did you do the re-learn procedure?
did you turn off all accessories ie. a/c, radio, lights etc?
restart the motor after 15 mins(or when cooling fan turns on) before you took it for a spin?

Another issue I found:
Sometimes (20%) when I turn on the headlights, either 1 (or both) will flash momentarily and turn off. When i turn them off and back on again, they work fine.
NB these after aftermarket HIDs. Could anyone help me narrow down the issue? Thanks

check all your HID connections. If not your HID's are probably on the way out
