I wish to tow a Honda CRV auto on all four wheels(with a "A" frame)behind my motorhome as has been done in the US for many years.I have contacted my local dealer and Honda Australia with the answer being you can't,without any explanation.I gather the extent of there knowledge is from the local user handbook which does say you can't.I sent this excerpt(I tried to upload the full attachment to this thread but couldn't) to Honda Australia months ago, which is from a US CRV handbook but haven't had a reply. It must have been put in the too hard basket.
My question was and still is "what's the difference between a US and Australian auto trans which allows a US CRV to be towed and an Australian CRV not?"
I hope someone can at least give me clue to who may know the answer.
Thanks

Towing Your Vehicle Behind a Motorhome
Your Honda can be towed behind a
motorhome at legal highway speeds
up to 65 mph(100 km/h). Do not
exceed 65 mph(100km/h).
Otherwise, severe transmission
damage will occur. To avoid damage
to the 4WD system, it must be towed
with all four wheels on the ground
(flat towing).
Perform the following procedure
everyday immediately before you
begin towing. Otherwise severe
automatic transmission damage will
occur.
Check the transmission fluid level
(see page ).
Start the engine.
Press on the brake pedal. Move
the shift lever through all its
positions.
Shift to D, then to N. Let the
engine run for three minutes, then
turn it off.
Leave the ignition switch in
ACCESSORY (I) so the steering
wheel does not lock. Make sure
the radio and any items plugged
into the accessory power sockets
are turned off so you do not run
down the battery.
If you tow more than 8 hours in one
day, you should repeat the above
procedure at least every 8 hours
(when you stop for fuel, etc.)
Release the parking brake.
