CBR250RR has a different frame than 250R, engine is mounted lower down and it has a lower sitting position ,I think.. from riding experience, didn't really measure it :p

Not sure about the engine internals, but the 250RR redlines at 19,000 rpm while the 250R redlines at 18,000 rpm..

Most obvious difference is the 250RR has a twin disc brake at the front compared to single disc setup on the 250R..

easiest spot would be the double fron tdisc brakes on the RR and single on the R.

There's a lot of difference between the two models

Most obvious are the front disc brakes R single and RR dual front disc
Fairings, Swing arm and even the frame are different the RR is a totally different bike however very similar in looks

RR goes harder.

RR goes harder.

this is bull, The torque is different on both bikes the RR has a low down torque the R is higher in the rev range.

They say that the r only revs to 18-000 but it goes to 20000 quite easily (i own one).

The RR is a better track bike because of the frame setup (for a noob anyway)

Many parts do swap over though.

but even i see this import 91, with twin disc at the front, when the shop import it, the import plate says it is R, not RR, but the shop says it is RR.

not sure if the shop is lying.

Easiest way to tell is that the CBR250r stopped being manufactured in 1989 so if it is 91 it is an RR, Also if it has a Gull arm swing arm (not straight, goes up then bends back down) but what you are looking at is definatly an RR

Actually im not so sure about that
i always thought it was:
cbr250r has low end torque
cbr250rr has no low end torque but revs higher torque comes later on.

but i dont like the look of the 250r, it looks old.

could be an 87. It came with the twin front disc too.

986 CBR250FG and CBR250FG-YA (MC14). Twin front disks, single front headlight, bikini fairings.
1987 CBR250R(H) (MC17). Twin disks, still single head light, full fairings.
1988 CBR250R(J) (MC19). Single larger front disk, smaller chain, twin head lights, fuel pump.
1989 CBR250R(K) (MC19). Essentially identical to the R(J), except now had a speed limiter which was set at 185 km/h.
1990-1991 CBR250RR(L) (MC22). A completely new redesigned bike that features a new cast/pressed aluminium frame that gives a more aggressive riding position, gull shaped swing arm that was adopted from the NSR250, higher rising tail, six spoke cast aluminium wheels and dual front Ø276 mm floating disk brakes. These changes resulted in a dry weight of 142 kg.

The only feature that was adopted from the previous model CBR250s was the original MC14E engine. This too was slightly modified with a crankshaft that featured Ø27.5 mm small-end journals, up Ø0.5 mm from the previous Ø27 mm journals. The engine also uses a completely new set of VP carburetors that feature smaller throats reduced from Ø32 mm to Ø30.5 mm. These carburetors are now fed by a vacuum operated pump for fuel delivery.

yeah dont worry, compliance always says its an R for an import,
but in reality on rego papers its a RR

if it its has a banana look frame (C shape), twin rotors at the front, look at the front fairings if the air vent is vertical instead of horizotal, the rotors has more holes (for cooling), look at the rear shock if its BLUE, then 100% sure it is a jap import 250RR.

most likely the compliance plate should say something by westside motorcycle dismantlers hahahah .

also the rims are different
mc19 3 sppoke
mc22 i think 5 spoke?
