I'm sorta new to here.. and need some help..
i need to do my 10k service, and i have a few questions:
1. from other posts in the forum i saw people recommand to ring up a few dealer when doing services, becos there can be alot difference in price. I want to ask: should i just ring up a few Honda dealers? or should I also ring up some other places except Honda dealers? if yes, i should ring up other places, then what other places should i ring..?
2. what are the services they should be doing for the 10K service? should I check with them what will they do?
3. whats the price roughly I should be paying..?
Thanks alot for your help!!!!!!!!!:p

Q1.Call 3 dealers and compare prices, make sure they are all doing the same things for the 10K service,eg,oil filter.Where do you live?We can then recommend some dealers.Stick with Honda service, there's not much difference in price.
Q2.Check in your service book, make sure you get them to change the oil filter,it's not part of the scheduled 10K service.YesAsk them what they do for the 10K service.
Q3.I paid $138.00 but i supplied my own oil(add approx.$40.00 if you don't supply your own oil)

You wouldnt like to do it yourself? Or is it still under warranty?
Doing it yourself will save you close to $50 bucks and will take you less than 1 hour roughly.

well since it's 10k service I'll assume it's a brand spanking new car with factory 3 year warranty only obtainable if following the conditions as stated by the manufacturer which usually means you get the car serviced at any Honda certified dealership and warranty will not be voided, although you may want to double check with generic service departments that give factory book services like auto tune I think.
And if you are not sure what in included with such and such service you will notice it will be in the service manual.
which usually means you get the car serviced at any Honda certified dealership and warranty will not be voided, although you may want to double check with generic service departments that give factory book services like auto tune I think.
Any registered mechanic can service the vehicle in accordance with the handbook and warranty will not be voided.

I live in Strathfield NSW.. I bought my car from Rick Damelian (dealer at Leitchard)
and some more questions... if I want to supply my own oil,
1. where should I buy it from..?
2. what brand..? (my car hasnt been modified at all..)
3. roughly how much should it cost..?
4. if i dont supply my own oil, would the quality of the oil they use be worse..?
Thanks again mate!!!

Yep, I had to use a different mechanic up in Port Hedland.
Closest Honda was Geralton, or 12 - 14hrs away......
Rang up Honda Australia and they said as long as the mechanic is registered it's all good.

If you want dealer service go to Damelians.aaronng a mod here used to go there.PM him,he'll give you some feedback. From what i hear they're good.
Q1.Supercheap,Autobarn.
Q2.Castrol Edge 5W30.Castrol Edge 0W40.Elf Excellium SM 5W30.Motul.I'd use a FULL synthetic if you only service your car every 10K/6 mths..It'll go the distance whereas the mineral and semi synthetic oils may start to break down.
Q3.$40.00-$80.00 depending on what brand.
Q4.Dealers generally use Castrol Magnatec 5W30,Shell or Honda FEO 10W30 which are either mineral or semi synthetic.I supply my own oil so i know what is going into my engine.IMO the oils the dealers use are not that good.

Definitely bring your own oil. On magnatec, my engine started to get rough at the 7000km mark. Repeated twice and had the same thing happen both times. It didn't happen, even with a cheap hydrocracked synthetic like Edge 5w-30 (which I pay $30 for during sales).
Rick Damelian was good when I serviced there. No complaints from me. You have to tell them that you are bringing your own oil when you book your car in, and the service cost was about $250 (minus $40 if you bought your own oil) 3 years ago.

Elf is good.I use Excellium SM 5W30.am trialling Castrol Edge 0W40.Had it in the engine for 3 weeks so good so far, maybe a little bit better than the Elf,car seems a little more responsive although this could be all in the mind lol.

Just sent my car in this morning, 10000KM service. $215, seems like I have paid a little bit too much.

When you consider the 10,000km Service is basically just an oil change, (as is the 20 & 30,000km service) the prices quoted are way over the top. I do my own services using genuine oil & filters. Cost is $47.00 & I keep all receipts for parts. I guess it helps being a licensed mechanic.
