your immobilizer could be faulty

if the engine wont turn over its a starter motor issue. Faulty solenoid or connection or slowly failing - get it looked at by a auto electrician or mechanic

i dont think its the imoblisor because wen it is on, the car still makes a noise when the key is turned but it dosent start, this makes no noise when the key is turned its like nothing happens at all, where abouts is the starter motor in the engine bay??

when you turn the key - 1 , 2 3 clicks the ECU light will go ON then OFF again. You will hear a noise from the back (like a DUUUUUUURRRRNNNNN noise) thats the fuel pump priming. Chances are its teh starter motor failing. its located underneath your intake arm and distributor. If you dont know what it is i strongly suggest you take it to a mechanic to check, the starter is directly connected to the battery and can give you a big ZAP

Mine is 99 a model does a similar thing every week or three. I turn the key, all accessories and dash lights turn on including fan for air vents but no engine bay noise at all. I pull out the key and back in again, and works fine.
I always thought it may be the factory immobiliser not talking to the key chip properly.

i rekon its the immobiliser
does it click from the engine bay??? if it clicks from the engine bay then its more then likely the contacts in the starter motor... however if it doesnt click... immobiliser...
when the starter motors go it wont work most the time itll work hardly ever then not at all...
this is y im saying immobiliser

chances are its the main relay.
Unplug the relay and see if it produces the same results that you're gettin.

it wont b the main relay... it doesnt have anything to do with the starter motor

if no accessory lights go on when its in the on position then i think your ignition switch is failing. If there are lights on then it could be many things maybe immobilizer?
