Hi guys,

Just wondering if anybody knows how to fix burnt/bald carpet (carpet fibres are non-existant and down to the level of the carpet mat).

After doing some research, it seems the way to go is to use donor carpet fibres from under front seats or similiar and patch up the burnt/bald patch.

What glue I should use to stick the fibres down, and how do I go about taking the donor fibres?

honestly i cant see doing what youre suggestion being either

a. easy

or

b. cheap

if you try to DIY to get it done cheaply itll look terrible. like a two year old spread some glue on your carpet then sprinkled the fibres on it

if you get it done professionally, itll most likely cost alot coz its a very labour intensive job. someone has to sit there by hand and do it, not just give it too a machine

i think the idea of it is to be used on carpets that you cant buy replacements for, like really rare and old cars

you can buy aftermarket replacement carpets for only a couple of hundred bucks these days

It may not be easy, but at least its cheap.
Worse comes to worse, you're right, I will have to buy a new carpet.

But I have no qualms about giving this a try before resorting to splashing out on new carpet.
