boot lid light

this problem has come up a few weeks back, the boot lid light comes on the dash indicating that its open but it's not, when i use to flor it and hammer the car, it will ocassionally turn off, now when i repeat it it doesn't turn off it just stays on, what can it be? any solutions? any diys? thanks

i think there is a rubber button in the boot lid, when pushed down will turn off the dash light. try to locate and manually press it by hand.

cheers ill try that tomorrow. i tried looking around that area but all i see is the cable but ill look carefully for the rubber button tomorrow something might be loose or something
