Hey guys

New to the forum, and ive been bitten hard by the S2000 bug. Prior to this i was never a fan of the Honda S2000 not knowing much about them, but 2 of my mates own silvers ones. For the first time about a month ago i got behind the wheel of one and I have never driven anything like it. It was the most exciting car i have driven, and now im in the market for one.

Seeing that you guys are knowledged in the S2k dept, i was wondering what to look for. Im in the market for a 99 to 02 model with 80,000kms to a bit over 100,000kms, silver or black in colour, spending max $30000

I have a car that im payin off at the moment and would prefer to go with a dealer here in Sydney to trade it in, only problem is that no dealers stock them atm.

Any hints and tips of where to look, what to look for, and if anyone has spotted them in caryards in Sydney area.

Many Thanks

carsales.com.au have a bucketload of them. You should easily pick one up below $30k. I picked mine up for $24k with 91k kms and a hardtop. Take your time and test drive as many as you can till you find the right one for you. Things to look out for with cars that age is inner CV joint wear (very common on lowered s2000s), when you test drive accerate quickly to high revs and if you feel any vibration from the rear the CVs will have to be replaced, reworked or swapped side to side, cost for rewoking them is around $400 from a driveshaft shop). Cars with that milage will also most likely have clutch buzz, tinning sort of noise on decel, doesnt affect drivability but I hated the noise. If you do need to change the clutch disc, cost....I would say a couple hundred for a cluch disk and around $400-$600 for the install. If you do change it out you might as well put in new bearings and flywheel.

Hope that helped a bit!
