Muffler Question

I have a 00 Civic hatch with its OEM stock exhaust

Will getting a decent sized muffler (2"-4") alone be worth doing
I mean will you be able to notice any sound difference?

Also if i were to just get the muffler alone will the guys at the shops
just weld it on and go home or would more stuff have 2 be brought/replaced for installation?

A change in the muffler will definetly change the sound/pitch/tone of your exhaust.

As you said, the only thing that will need to be changed will be the muffler and exhaust tip which will need to be welded on as well as exhaust hangers. If you take your car into a good exhaust shop they will be able to do all of this for you (including supply of the muffler - there is no need to get one yourself and bring it in).

Just get the muffler from the exhaust shop (Canon type) if you are just after the BRRRRRRR sound. The guy that works in the exhaust shop will help you to do the rest after you chose what you want in their shop.

If you are after performance that you will need to consider what suits your car best. :)

Won't a 4" muffler be too big, start to drone and even cause power loss?

i think he meant the body diameter. 2" diameter piping inside.

Just another question, what would be a good recommended size of the muffler for an ek?

2" if you have light mods like Cold Air Intake + POD

But if i were to get a 3" would i encounter any droning or any other odd sounds?
because at the moment im thinking of getting a 3" off a mate.

droning yes. unless u hav alot of resos. 3" is way 2 big imo
