Guys i found this on youtube: very good information before buying an exhurst for S2000!! please watch and enjoy:
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=moEKOyw43_A

i'm thinking to get the 5zigen one coz i can get it real cheap but only a catback, without the headers.

1. does it increase any performance/acceleration if i run it with my stock headers and stock intake?
2. anyone used it before? any feedback?
3. which one has best sound?
4. which one is your favorite?

Thanks,

I had amuse dual, which is meant to be the best dual on the market, and I noticed nothing. Just the sound, plus it removed 18 kilos or more of weight from stock, but you cant feel that, in a daily driver. Get it for sound. I just bought an HKS as that is the best sounding exhaust on the s2000 I have heard to date.

Hey Ferrari,

What type of HKS is it?

WOW... but did you use stock headers?

Don't buy an Invidia...

stock everything, the amuse exhaust was cat back, in America they claim max 6hp gain. That is not noticeable. Maybe if you bunched a few mods together like header, high flow cat, and single exhaust with a good tune, you will tell a gain. But then your talking a fair bit of cash, for not too much gain.

The HKS I got, is the hi power dual.

vyets

I think the best dual to date will be the t1r EM dual which seems to have mad gains for a dual! A dual with gains like a single exhaust.

best gain + best sound= single exhaust

anything titanium from Amuse or ARC is the shit!~ i had the ARC single ti, bloody loved it. Also had the Amuse dual full Ti i purchased from Mad. Was a sexy exhaust but the sound from a single is supreme....

I had a t1r 63mm sparrow on my s2000. Very nice sounding exhaust, no drone and not too loud for a daily driver.

so the conclusion is that catback's are pretty much only for sound and abit of weight reduction????

thanks for all the advice and feedback guys!!!
but i'm only considering the 5zigen since a mate is in the australia 5zigen team and he can get me a brand new one for stock price which is tempting me.
so i think i'll still go ahead with it even only for looks and sound!!!
i'll try to post pics when i get it!!
cheers guys.

Duals are for sound and looks!
Singles are for power!

60mm is for quietness
70mm is for power!

ludecrs
14-01-2009, 07:27 AM
what about dual 70's? :p

NVD52K
14-01-2009, 08:49 AM
i have a toda exhaust , headers, test pipe, dual cat back. and its very loud, drony and even more better at WOT. although i do make some power for a dual exhaust even though i havent experienced having a single one

vyets
14-01-2009, 08:53 AM
LOL Dual 70 is abit of both but I would say more looks unless its the t1r EM :D that thing is just nuts for a dual.

eriktufa
14-01-2009, 07:51 PM
I like mine haha

I wouldn't mind 70mm dual though... best of both world

vyets

I'd rather a Dual Barrel exhaust then dual cannon, dual cannons look tacky. But then again I'm one of the few aus s2k owners that love single exhaust.

Your exhaust is unbeatable eric.
Single, 70MM, Quiet, Power. Only downside is it's pretty heavy for a single SS. Imagine the Ti OMG!!

also forgot to add single looks alot tougher!

So you should move you driver seat to the centre too so you don't unbalance the car?!?!?!?:p

I am with a single exhaust. I love the tought look of single.

HKS Headers, Spoon single cat back. I like the look and it sounds awesome. I am sure there is a tiny power gain but heaps lighter and mine seems to have a nice thumpy idle almost like a rex it's pretty sweet.

Single on MCB FTW.....same as Godhand Initial D stylez

you can always buy the single exhaust cap from the US to cover up the hole on the other side.

vyets
19-01-2009, 05:18 PM
It's like buying a single bucket seat.. Function over form i'd say, no point forking out double the price for a passenger seat so it "looks" better. Duals tend to be more expensive as well.
But singles look alot better with the exhaust cap anyway.
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/4493/dsc0121235324on4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Anyway no more single vs dual arguments lol..

Btw, if anyone is interested I was actually out of a job for awhile, and I picked up a really cheap stock exhaust so I decided to chop off the mufflers to see how it sounds.
Surprisingly its pretty quiet.. best thing of all no drone! but pretty loud at certain rpm's, nothing unbearable but.
But it does throb and sounds really aggressive and is real loud at WOT.
As for power. I doubt it if anything it probably lost power. But the sound is just nuts :).

Oh yeah single rear cutout there I see it. I was too busy drooling over the rest of the car LOL!!!!

I found a CF rear lip that goes on the stock AP1 rear bar from the US with single cut out so probably get it once our dollar is back off ass paper ville in the USA............

there are afew vendors on s2ki that sell replicas but if you want the real deal its made by ASM. 2x2 Dry Carbon Weave :)

has anyone had experience with a buddy club spec 4 (or spec iv... whatever?)

i heard it was really quiet for a single, but i was wondering exactly how quiet. buddy club arent exactly renown for their subtlety so i was hoping that this one would be... different.

Ferrari
02-03-2009, 07:20 PM
I think the buddyclub exhaust range is questionable in quality, alot of people who run them on S2000 experience cracking at welds etc. Ask Taaxed. Or check out S2ki. I reckon best exhaust is fujitsubo for sublety and great vtec roar. I have the hks hi power, which I think is better sounding, but more drony at certain rpms, and not as quiet.

JAP-S2K
02-03-2009, 08:18 PM
Yeah stand well clear of most Ti systems. Not only are they worth a bomb. But titanium is quite prone to cracking. It's very difficult to weld. And as cool as the discolouration is, it generally means the incorrrect temp range of weld. Thus meaning cracking. I learnt the hard way. However it's not rocket science. Want power, big pipe, minimal bends and as free flowing mufflers. Custom for me.

DC5TYPER
02-03-2009, 08:36 PM
Ill be getting custom built cat back from Bay rd exhausts.

3 inch - stainless steel - highest flow cat and muffler -> built for pure top end power!

NOISE IS NOT A ISSUE. Track only exhaust.

Ill keep you guys posted!

ok i narrowed my choice down to two choices

dual spoon exhaust with berk test pipe and j's racing headers (will be delivered soon)

or

t1-r em dual with berk test pipe and j'racing headers (will be delivered soon)

which set up do you think? my car is daily driven aswell

sho
04-03-2009, 09:25 AM
if its spoon n1 then its going to be loud so maybe that is something to put in factor if your going to use your car as a daily.

Shipping will cost that much and plus you have to pay custom duty, paperwork etc if it's shipped by Airmail :)

That's another 700-1000 depending on the value of the item etc etc, although your friend has import & export company you still have to pay the airline, cargo fee etc..
