Hi guys im a newbie to hondas as i have previously owned commodores and jap imports. I recently purchased a 1995 Integra with 140xxxkms and with a b18 engine. I was wondering what is needed to turbo it so i dont do toomuch damage to my engine. I dont want to rebuild engine so i am only planning to run low boost. Has anyone done this and if so can you help me out with specs, what is needed, and power output. I have a budget of $1500-$2000.

cheers

your budget is far to small. if you double it at the very least, you might be able to do it..... If you do all the work yourself.
It can be done tho on a stock engine and make good reliable power.

Yeh, not enough money man.
Save at least 5-8k for a budget to mid range build.
You should always prepare for the worst when boosting ur car.

you may b able to afford a basic G-reddy kit but you'll have to do all the work and use the basic tune provided in the E-manage that comes with the kit.

Even then your pushing it abit

dont get emanage
build your own kit and use a standalone ems

$1500-2000 budget is not enough for a reliable build.
maybe you can knock out the more expensive parts by purchasing 2nd hand.
$3000-3500 you got to budget for.

but take advantage of the market of parts available for the car.
eg. use a of the shelf cast manifold which do the job well at even 170kw atw figures. put the money into a good ecu, rechipped ecu etc.

out of a avo manifold and dump pipe, i've gotten 206kw atw with it.

I reckon I could put together a 1/2 decent kit for $2000-2500 even with the current exchange rate

bullshit.... it will cost you more than that no matter how many corners you cut.

Im piecing together a kit for my B20VTEC atm.... without "cutting corners" it's only going to cost me $2.5k at the most

cutting edge and budget is not gonna work!, the less u spent when you modify car the worst you get.

you will keep changing parts because is cheap and fragile. lol

do it once and thats it :) save the money from keep fixing it.

ebay turbo kit
$750
rc injectors 440cc
$450
new intercooler
$200 (changed to keep the oulets on one side)
exhaust with hi flow cats etc.
$1000
and intercooler pipes a few made (stupid decision shoulda done this myself)
$400
ecu and tuning gear
$1000
fuel pump
$120
pod filter
$30
gauges
$200
oil relocation kit
$150
civic rad
$100 plus $350 for pwr one after

think thats it

budget aside it couldve been done cheaper but only thing i DIDNT do is the exhaust
i made the hoses at work and had heaps of cheap/free parts

the ebay kit helped heaps but there r better ones on the market now that can give u more... all BS aside bout ebay stuff it doesnt matter

u save money on hose fittings, pipes, silicon joiners, hose clamps, etc. they all get expensive

i know the turbos cheap and the bov doesnt seal etc. but if u know what ur doin u can fix it....

anyways what is ur intentions u wana keep a/c and p/s? etc.

what engine management
even though there cheap i still stick by what i said before if u get a ebay kit then u can save some money on stuff and the turbo may b cheap but atleast u get on the rd and atleast its a start u ALWAYS change things after weather it be manifolds, turbos, whatever...

there's another good point... "but if u know what ur doin u can fix it...."
if you DONT know what u'r doing, you pay for it!
so yes it can be BOUGHT for cheaper but you need to know your own abilities to really work out where you can save $
can you tune?? there's $600-800 right there - or more!

exactly.... im sick of these DICKHEADS who say aw im interested in buying an engine off u or something and then go aw that expensive to get it fitted and that... though they will pay someone else an extra 100 bucks to do a worse job..... spose people will never learn....

i have to admit that my original budget was 3k on my build, but that was cos i got the turbo cheap & wholesale prices on all parts, AUD was much higher and alot of labour was not accounted for.
And still it ended up costing me a couple of $k more.

If your inexperienced it will cost you more again, there is no way around it trust me.

Its not a cheap mod, but it is the best bang for buck mod.
