hey guys

I installed a b16a off a jdm sir into my eg5. Since then I've not had any vtec. I was told it was code 18 for the vtec solenoid. I changed it over but still no joy. I do want to mention that when i did swap the solenoid over I think that something did drop out, but have changed with 2 different solenoids and still nohing. also hav resistance checked both connector and solenoid and boh seem to be doing sumthing?

Is there anything else that could be restricting the vtec?

All help will be greately appreciated

Cheers

you need to wire up vtec from the shock tower to the ecu

well yes ur engine loom has vtec, but the car is not vtec
so if you check ur ecu plugs, there is no vtec wire going to the ecu.

You will need to wire up the following to get it run properly
Vtec: A4
Vtec Pressure: C6
4 wire 02 sensor
knock sensor (depends on the ecu)

if its sohc vtec then u would have vtec and vtec pressure already in the shock tower

put 12v signal from the battery to the vtec solenoid and listen carefully, you should hear a click, if you don't then its goneskies

Thanks ECU-MAN for that really helpful link - will try this tomoro.

Just thought i'd ask that I've got a problem with the code 10 IAT - would this cause it to not vtec as the diagnostic write-up suggests that the enigine may be in 'limp mode'?

ECU-MAN

its possible.

I have found many ecus behave differantly to faults from different sensors.

but IAT is one that can cause no VTEC when in limp. also is you VSS working ?

Thanks guys - got these little problems fixed, no longer have the engine management light on when driving normally, but still no vtec?

The light came back on when at high revs, and the ecu threw up code 23 (knock sensor). Could this be the reason?
