Hey guys,

I just replaced my radiator (the top tank) as it had a huge split in at the top right near where the radiator cap screws on.

Everything was fine for about 2 weeks then i was sitting in maccas drive through and noticed that the engine was overheating again. I went home and checked the water level (thinking there was none) and it was all fine.

For those who are going to ask.. Yes i did replace the water and coolant when i got the radiator fixed.

Just wondering what else it could be,.. I was thinking thermostat.. is there any way i can check to see if this is the problem?

Your help on this would be excellent!

Thanks in advance..

did you bleed the system?

honda thermos stay open when they fail.
unless an aftermarket one is fitted.

if you have bled and checked the thermo.
check that you have flow/pressure. run the car with the radiator cap opened. and you should get overflowing from the radiator. if not then maybe your water pump failed.

OR.
your fans not kicking in =]

well assuming you bled the coolant system properly my fingers on the thermostat
if you haven't replaced it before then i'd look into changing it

the only way to check it is to take it out and throw it into boiling water and see if it opens or not
but if you go to all that effort may as well pay the $35odd it costs for an oem one and pop it in to eliminate it for later

friends ooooold civic had a similar problem. when in traffic would overheat as the fan wasnt working. when you get home from a long drive just pop the top and see if the fan starts to spin (while keeping an eye on ur temp of course).. that can rule out the fan..

if the fan works then take ur car to a mech and get him to check pressure as said above, and thermo aswell..
