Congratulations Honda
Yeah I just saw the "A Current Affair " program-I had a feeling that the Euro would win.

Although I don't own one it certainly is one of the better cars out there and looks great.!

Yeah, on yesterday's show the Wheels' guys praised the CU2 quite a bit so it's a great outcome for Honda. Congratulations! :D

How good was that? I find it hardly surprising that Accord Euro CU2 has won Wheels COTY. Although I am a CL9 owner but I am proud of the CU2 winning. I have to agree that Euro always outstanding to be all-round car, both new and old model. Congrats Honda you deserve an award!

Even better to note that the both the CL9 (2003) & CU2 have both won COTY!

I suppose Honda must be doing something good with the euro's :)

Congrats to Honda, what a great all round package the CU2 is. I must say that i am very impressed with mine, add to that economy almost as good as the current model Civic.

One must therefore assume that the Euro's they drove did not ping...

I don't believe the issue is related to pinging, i believe it is more likely a slight timing chain rattle that is not evident on all models. I have an Auto with no sign of this problem

Not perfectly on topic, but the euro hasnt won before...
Honda has recieved 4 Wheels COTY's before '08
Accord - '77
Prelude - '87 (3rd gen ftw btw)
NSX - '91 (joint winner with pulsar)
Odyssey - '95

Ive got to say ive always loved the look of the euro, not too big, not too small. It just looks athletic.

Honda Euro CU2 is PAARFECT

Without Racing there is no Honda .

Pity about F1, Soichiro Honda would not be pleased.

Woah, CU2 car of the year, nice!

The CL9 came fourth in Wheels' 2004 COTY. It was beaten out by the RX-8, because it apparently "lacks its level of innovation".

Pfft. Honda FTW!

I have had my CU2 Lux Navi manual for three weeks now and love it. Feels like a much more expensive car than it is. Not at all suprised that it beat the Mazda 6, as after having driven both, the Euro is miles ahead.

Hi
I am the owner of a 2009 Luxury Euro Manual 6speed.

I purchased it from Capital Honda Canberra on 11/11/08.

After the 1,000 Kms service i noticed a noise similar to a mettalic rattle like a baby's
ratlle with mettalic marbles in it, thats the best way to describe it.

My reasearch on the OZ Honda forum has revealed this is called pinging.
It cannot be rectified by using 98 octane, and this is confirmed by other owners.

My car has 2,200 kms on the clock and from 3,000RPM 2nd to 3rd gear to 4th the accelaration rattle is very evident and noisy.

Today I am approaching the general manager of Capital Honda with a letter of compliant.
I truly do love this car and everything about it is very nice.

Im deeply disspaointed this problem has occured and now must make my voice heard.
I have posted my details on the Honda Australia web site late last night.

Look guys i paid $41,200 for this car and my cheque was not faulty and did not bounce.
All i want is Capital Honda to acknowledge the problem in writting, and hopefully Honda Australia will make contact with me.

Here are some details of my engine details
Engine: K24Z3-2352304
Compliance Plate: 07/08
Build Date: May 08 CU2 (TL3 9 QBO NH 743M -A -C)

As far as i can understand the 2.4 litre 148 Kw engine is a high compression engine.
Japan has tweaked this engine to produce its maximum power, maybe they have used a part that is foreighn in nature, and or the combustion chamber produces too much heat and the end result is pinging.

I dont really know as im not a technician.
I will keep all of you posted with any news that i receive.

As for the Euro getting the Car of the Year (COTY) if Honda corrects my problem and that of the other owners then i will believe it.

Thank You
Nenad

I don't believe this is a pinging issue. It is much more likely to be a timing chain/ tensioner problem

Again i agree with you it being a tensioner problem. It's hydrolic from what i know.IMO that's where the problem lies.

Hi Guys

If you are an owner of the 09 Euro Lux manual or auto and you
experience the annoying engine rattle a type of mettalic noise
i urge you to go to your dealer and to the Honda Australia web site
and lodge a genuine compliant using you VIN.

I love my car and the manual version goes awesomely.
But the motor continues to ping from 60 km's.
My car will be inspected by Capital Honada in Canberra
hopefully next week Tuesday.

Thanks
Nenad

Hahaha, yeah. I just read them all. What a bunch of retards.
Any Jap car regardless of brand, is better than any Australian car. ;)
Hell, the Koreans are getting better than them too! :)

But I was still surprised that the FG falcon didn't get it, being a bogan mag and all.

Im buying a new car soon.

Im trading my loved CL9 on a 350z probably.

id love a CU2 but I wan a diesel or a v6.

i think the cu2 deserves to win the award as its a great car. The pinging issue has put me off the good old k24 though.

Great to see Honda winning again and Wheels proving they can still recognise a good car when they see it. I just got a CL9 and am happy with that. Did test drive the CU2, but wasn't worth an extra 20k for me. Now all they have to do is actually start selling cars!

Go Honda!

The price has gone up 2k since it was first released.

So the 2K price increase makes it 1K more than the previous model. Considering the CU@ is much better equipped than the CL9 it is still great value. Don't forget the AU$ has fallen by over 20%.

Depends on which model your talking about here. You should really compare apples with apples before typing that statement :)

Thanks for the vote of support Type R

When I say better appointed I mean it in every way. what model we choose comes down to individual choice. Does the addition of leather make it a better or worse car -NO (and no burnt butts after parking in the sun for a day). The same goes for a hole in the roof when the car has climate control A/C. (I guess it comes down to the climate in the area you live). As for 3K for the addition of Sat Nav & the dollars required when you need to update it, or sub 1K for a good Tom Tom which costs nothing to update - that is another debatable subject & every individual will have a different view.

What about the pros & cons of a space saver spare - useless if you live in the country. Same goes for the slightly softer suspension set up on the luxury models.

A CU2 is a CU2, regardless of the model.

^^^ Cant agree more with you there Buddah! Wifey hate the leather on my Civic Sports... too hot on hot day, too cold on freezing morning. but then again it was useful when we went to the beach last time. Ppl who come with us just come out of shower and still have wet bum, but I just need to wipe it off... while if you using cloth seat it will be bad... :p

All in all... will see how it goes when I have a chance to test drive the CU2 next weekend
