Hey guys,
I've been using ozhonda for a lil while and never introduced myself or my cars. I'm a uni student about to begin my PhD at Monash. I currently own 2 cars, an EJ8 civic and TA63 celica.

shut me down on the vork sticker for sure =], probably the first 2 pics the camera made it soo light. but yeh check around to see if says volk on the actual rim and if it says "Made in Japan" i think it should say that not sure for ur own sake.

I can't find anything on the rims where it says where it is made. All markings on the rims are raised like they were part of the mould when made. There is also a funny looking symbol kinda like this "JIL".

the "JIL" symbol is on my wedsports SA-70's and my other rims (i have no idea wat brand or rim they are but i saw it once on a nsx.. so it must be good then lol) so i think that most rims will have that symbol.

I put the intake on today and did a DIY that included PVC piping and an old gardening pot my mum didn't want. Here are the pics:

The suspension consists of Koni shocks and Eibach springs. The ride height is 10.5cm. So its legal.... just. here are some pics of the suspension:

the markings on ur rim is JWL, it just means it meets the japanese standard 4 alloy wheels...kinda like adr here.

Lenso rims have them too.

Agree, most rims have them. And I believe it is JWL and not JIL.
Japanese wheels must have a "JWL" logo on the wheel and "JWL" (Japan Light Wheel Alloy) is a compilation of standards defined by the Japanese Government to ensure the vehicle's safety for aluminum road wheels. Every wheel put to market must be tested to meet JWL standards before a wheel can be put out to market in Japan. These standards are generally accepted worldwide as acceptable for most road conditions. That is why you will see these marks on European and other Asian country wheels.

yea its looking more like JWL now. This still doesn't tell me whether my rims are real Volks or not tho, sighs, lol. Do Vorks have the JWL symbol?

I found an old ECU lying around, i'm gunna try and hook it up. It should be a good learning experience since i have no idea what to do or how to do it. Its by Jacobs electronics (a canadian company i think). On the back of the unit it says what all the wires are for howeva i do not now what these mean

hmm well I believe most if not all have VOLK or RAYS word bulging out of the rim in that part between the spokes and should say made in Japan also and it should be u know bulging out. somewhere on the rim liek anywhere.
here are some examples

hummm in this case, i'll just have to assume they are Vorks as there is no marking indicating they are made in japan. I'm gunna remove the stickers as the rims are not worthy of them and order some real volk rims in this case :)
What does the marking 690KG in the first pic mean? The weight the rims can support?
Nice Civic, one of the reasons why i got a coupe instead of the hatch back in the days!
old school Hot 4's civic from November 2000 issue! does it still have the nice stereo install in it?

im not sure man, but i think thats what it means. and yeh so the back of the rim doesnt say rays or something anywhere?. we can only speculate so don't totally take our word for it. dont want u to do something regretful if ur not sure. ohh and kool was it a hot 4s car?
Diz44zy
26-01-2009, 03:33 PM
yeah it did feature in Hot4's. however it doesn't have that stereo install nemore. It is running a soundstream setup at the moment. I'm fairly confident now the rims are fakes. I've been looking at alot of pics of real volks and things just don't add up. Oh well.

man that's ghey bout your rims :(
let me know if you wanna sell em ;)
btw: for your intake, would it fit if you angled the bottom corner piece up and used a 45 degree piece at the top? then you could join with a straight pip and reduce the bends:
http://users.tpg.com.au/azzag/images/car/201.jpg
Diz44zy
26-01-2009, 05:43 PM
lol yeah i was trying to do that but only had what i cud find in the garage. I was looking everywhere for a 45 degree angled pipe to replace the first bend removing the need for the 2nd and 3rd bends. The explanation is that i'm a lazy bum and cudn't be bothered going to the local hardware store and spending a couple of bucks on another piece of PVC piping.
I'll see whats happening with the rims and let u know when i do :)

haha lolz
any pics with the bumper on?
does it all fit with no cutting etc?
Diz44zy
26-01-2009, 09:52 PM
yeah it just fits. I had to trim a little more off the bottom of the scoop tho. There was quite alot of room behind the bumper to play with after removing the driving lights that weren't working anyway. I'll try and get a few more pics with the bumper up tomoz.

27-01-2009, 01:27 PM
yeah i'll try. I'm not that skilled with digital cams and what not however.
The weld holding on the muffler just snapped off, now its just held on with a piece of rope until i get a chance to weld it back on properly. I was also thinkin about gettin a new muffler. Any suggestions for whats best on my EJ8? nothing too loud ofcourse just a nice purrrr
EK1.6LCIV
27-01-2009, 01:45 PM
for mine I have a 2" cannon generic with I'd say a 4 inch tip I got from Rob Bliss, not overly loud, good enough for legal issues
may as well have em weld it up, won't cost much at all

what did you use to stick the PVC pipes together ???
Diz44zy
29-01-2009, 02:01 PM
I used the proper PVC blue cement (glue stuff. )It dries fairly strong after 5 mins and works a treat

sweet forced induction. u should stick the bottom of ur oem box on top then have the filters sit inside that. would mean the air is blowing straight up it.. just my 2c

Nice ride dude
I also remember this car from the hot 4's issue...it was slammed back then though
neways, if its the same rims that it had back when it was in the mag then they are real....
i doubt there were any vorks 9 years ago....and according to the mag feature it belonged to a rich indo student, doubt he woulda got fakes....plus i really doubt they had fakes back then lol
anyone could rip u off and tell u they are vorks, then make some profit on them
be careful man...

ALL TOPS !! ;) For my taste, ur rims are too nbig for a TE37. If i were u, i'll go for 16's :)
But all good!! and also, ur bucket seats... Doesnt suit the car, It'd look better if u got the DC2R recaro raplica in red on black (Y)
