I wanted to know the kind of gains i would get out of a hi flow cat + extractors installed into my Vti-r b18c2

I already have a cat-back exhaust, and SRI with a k&n filter..

Are the gains worth investing money into these or could my money be spent of other mods??

gains are well worth it i feel but all depends on the header.
intake/header/exhaust is the first thing i would do.
get a good set of headers and you will notice the difference.

get some good 4-1 headers,
2.25'' mandrel bent exhaust
metal core high-flow cat ie. magnaflow (epa approved)
and if budget permits lose the sri and run a cai setup.

branded headers are usually tuned for the engine afaik.

would probably be best to get something branded ie. proven gains.

research on which headers will give you the best gains for your b18

whats your budget is what i would be asking first

cheap end xforce and ebay shit

mid range 5 zigen

top end spoon, mugen, toda, maxim works

bang for buck would be dc2r jdm 4-1 headers mate

just do it.

the metallic high flow cat gives you less restriction and very noticeable gain even at the low end when you 1st take off, ie not only the few hp at the top end.

our dc2r factory au spec headers were very badly made by honda stds and you can tell they are not even equal length by sight, once we installed aftermarket headers 4-2-1 the diff in smoothness at idle and take off is huge, let alone the hp gains across the rev range.

How much would i be looking at spending for decent headers? Would it matter if i get them second hand?

All the above,

just got back from work so dont ask why im posting this early,,

my budget isn't an issue but the same time im not goin to be excessive,
the hi-flo cat isnt a worry, magna flow ones are numerous however where the fk am i gona get decent headers? Traders? or..

low end 200-400
mid 600-700
top 1400 plus
jdm headers 300-400

2nd hand prices usually a bit less but not that much depending on seller and condition

if you can find them then you have to negotate on price as alot of ppl will want $500+. also if someone posts them on here for sale they are already sold 2 mins later. mayb try wreckers or even look around for copy set of headers. they do the same thing just are a copy.

yeah from both jdmyard and toda they both recommened the buddyclub headers. i saved my cash and bought good ones first time round. also getting cust exhuast done, intake, t/b, cai, ecu. if you can wait till after say the 12th i can give you before and after? so you can get rough idea?

That'll be great ^ Fitzy

I want to make the most out my car, this is a car im going to keep for a while, so in other words, i couldn't give a f**k if my doe is spent, as long as its spent on something thats reasonable and .. bang for my buck.

Also, whats more preferable to you guys, install your exhaust system in time, i.e. cat back, then extractors, the hi-flo cat bla bla, or just bang it in all at once?

Fitzy

no worries mate. ill make sure i post it up with dyno before and after.
me personally i just wanted it done in one hit with whole exhaust system.
all up i spent $6,900 thats all my parts and labour, dyno and tune.

least this can be sort of an easy thing to look at seeing as we both are after the same sort of mods but the only difference is im getting the t/b, i/m and ecu on top.

so allow for some variance in what you expect to what ill get.

what year model is yours anyways?

hectik_7

Sounds good fitzy, your results should be worth it no doubt, i always wondered how much our engines can be worked, and what results we would see.

Mines a 93, does year model makes a difference throughout the pre-facelift phase? In terms of specs, luxuries etc?

Fitzy

mines is a 93 also, a hondata s100 is a straight plug in for ours aswell so you dont need to swap looms for ecu. so it might be an option on top of extractors and c/b.

i pretty much just went to jdmyard and asked what was a good header for my car with the mods i wanted to do. go to the traders section and pm jdmyard or toda
