Hi all
Im a new owner of a 2003 euro luxury, i got it at a fairly cheap price and thought all was well. the aircon wasnt cold but i figured it would just need a re-gas so i picked it up. went to get a quote today and got told it would be $2000 to fix cause it needed a new compressor and clutch assembly.

This price was for honda genuine parts but still seems pretty steep 2 me

Has any other euro owners experienced this?

And can anyone recoment anyone to fix it, im in newcastle nsw, an hour north of sydney

thanks in advance

Hi, well my aircon is cold, but isn't ice cold - perhaps mine does need a re-gas. Did you get a quote from the Honda dealer? Try another garage and see if it's cheaper. You should always get a second opinion when something's that expensive.

My compressor went. If you get second hand from wrecker then it'll be much cheaper. Mine including labour was about 1000.

a 2003 car, there is bound to be wear and tear on lot of parts... try going to your trusty garage, or drive down to hannys... good luck fixing them.

Anyone know what temp the air should be from the air-con vents?

My car is six months old and i am not really impressed with the airconditioning system in it at all.

Do you use a low fan speed or a high fan speed? Unfortunately the higher the fan speed you use the warmer the air temperature seems.

I think mine was measured at 6 degrees celcius at full A/C.

No way! After i got mine fixed....it doesnt even seem cold. Only after about 10 mins it feels 'nice'. That at 'Lo' full speed and on recycle.

Also depends on the temperature of the air in your cabin. If you parked in the sun, then it takes longer for the air coming from the vents to start becoming cold.

If you were referring to my comment I meant that the air temperature coming out from the vent was measured at 6 degrees not the temperature measured inside the cabin

Yea, thats what i interpreted it as. Mine is just cool air coming out...not 6 degrees cold.

well today was 45.5 degrees celcius in adelaide!!!! and i can say that it worked the best ive ever felt,,,? strange because as most comments above it is usually pretty tame and yes i do have to up the selection to 2 (satnav version) to get it comfortable.. but it is a graphite but has dark tint.

and not to add more to the hijacked thread,,,, yep $2000 is way to much $$$ call around and even interstate, qld wreckers seem to have alot of honda dudes

was your cabin hot in the first place?? if it is hot, the AC draws hot air and cool it down, so it will take longer to blow cold air....

I have a Mo6 with sat nav, I have never had a problem with the A/C, always nice and cold. I usually keep it on auto with the temp set at around 24:cool:

I had a VY Calais before and the honda is certainly colder than that, it was a black car though.

The airconditioning in my 2006 works fine. For example it was parked in the sun all day last week when it was 46C out in the outer s. Did the following and it was fine for an hour drive.

1) Wind down all windows and drive for 1 minute with fans going (no airconditioning) to flush out the "extra heated" air.

2) Turn on airconditioning with a high fan setting but vented to floor for another minute or two.

3) Wind up all windows put vents on recirculate and enjoy.

Set the thermostat at 25C fan on #2 and vent to face. Arrived feeling cool with no sweating back or armpits and that's my definition of airconditioning that works :D.
