Hey guys

my antenna is stuffed.. as per usual for the 14+ yr old car. used to go in and out (not fully extended) but now cant fully retract, but sits about 10cm above the panel

i was just wondering what you guys do with yours??

- buy an aftermarket one? s2k style, wreckers?
- jam it back down?

i still listen to the radio, so was wondering if i jammed it back down, and therefore would not be able to get it up, without using alot of effort, would i still be able to get reception?

Cheers

a few things to do, u can get a replacement antenna mast from an auto or audio shop, u can fully extend the antenna and clean it with 400-800 grit sandpaper and some crc or wd40 or u can replace.

There ur options

I got an S2K style not because it stopped working but I just didn't like the dodgem/rc car look lol

If you jam it down then your reception will prob just be average most of the time unless you pull it up a little and disconnect the motor plug.

My brother replaced his with a similar aftermarket unit.

the secret to keeping your antenna in good working order is after every wash (once a week) when you have the antenna fully extended to rub it to get all the dirt of it.

pulled the tall one out and replaced with oem s2000 antenna.
looks much better than b4 and wont break.

they are quite pricey though and not so simple to install.

i tried wax, turps, wd40, silicon spray and nothing. farker still cant go all the way down.. makes heaps of noise when going down. i am yet to try the sandpaper.. that is next!

after that i will disconnect the motor with it up 20cm.

grrrrrr

Yeah at work that is one of the most common things, u let the antenna go all the way up with you pulling also to get it fully extended then the sandpaper all over then some wd40, unless u got a small crease or something in the antenna.

If u dont want to replace the whole thing these cost about $40 from a car stereo store (not this exact one, just example) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Radio-Antenna-Mast-Acura-Integra-Vigor-GS-GSR-B18-LS-RS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q 7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a 1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem3 00264653272QQitemZ300264653272QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5f TruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Its called a mast and rope:thumbsup:
