Hey everyone, as the topic stated, since two month ago, I've been using this combination of 1/3 of Shell E10 and 2/3 of V Power for my 06 FD1 Vti-L manual, I've found the mileage has been improved, at least for me, 20% highway and 80% city, average of 580 km for 42-3 ltrs.

Before that, I've tried 100% E10 for a month and 100% V Power for a few months, both result shows average of 500-520 km.

As I drive home/work/ most of time, my driving pattern are the same too.

So I would like you guys to try it out and see if it improves for you too?

Ooo, if you put more than 1/3 E10, the car lags and the engine sounds different too.

if e10, i reckon its true, increase your car travel distance, not sure v power, i havent tried that

wait..

so your saying when you fill up - you pump from e10 - then pump from vpower to make a full tank?

Yeah, that's right, it's cool I've asked, just say you've got two lots to pay.

Just make sure you put 1/3 of E10 first, then fill V Power till full afterward. The total cost ends up similar to unleaded.

500-520km from 42-43 litres as well? Or when the light comes on?

i noticed that when i had remaining normal unleaded in my car and then topped the rest up with either v-power or bp ultimate, the same thing happened.. not much difference but maybe an additional 50km per full tank? i didn't wanna say anything coz it sounded silly but ill try it intentionally next time to let you know how it goes! thanks for bringing up the topic!

Yeah, till lights comes on, and usually takes 42-43 ltrs to fill till full. One more thing too, when you are refilling, squeeze the trigger only half way, it'll take longer to fill but you'll get more fuel, don't ask me why, dunno...

Great to hear someone had similar experience, keep trying.

THe first thing I notice is, if you do 1/3 E10 and rest on V power, it'll take longer/ more km to knock off the first fuel indication block, sometimes 50 km, sometimes 70km.

I wouldn't trust the fuel light to come on at the same point each time. I'd rather trust the petrol pump to stop filling on its own when full, so that I can calculate L/100km fuel consumption.

Have you tried 100% normal unleaded? maybe give 580km for 42-43L as well...

Yeah tried, nothing special, around 490-520 I remember, worst I had was 480, but that was about 4000km, in early 07, new car I guess.

Anyway, doesn't hurt if you use unleaded, the cost ends up kinda the same too.

If you're getting 500km+ out of a tank. You're not driving a Honda the way it was meant to be driven!!!! :p

My average is about 550km with 44L give or take...

Tahts relatively normal driving with a few times with a heavy foot.

how much would going harder on the accelerator affect fuel consumption? Because i just went through 3/4 of my full tank on V-power in only about 230KM... wtf =/.... somehow i think somethings up with that lol.. maybe going too heavy on the pedal? would that really affect consumption THAT much?

turn the air-con off and check your tire pressures

ekdez
11-02-2009, 09:02 AM
i haven't turned my aircon on yet.. LOL
the "lo to 19" climate control setting is the bomb

last tank i got 560km's without the light turning on.
with 98 mobil synergy.

note: canberra has less traffic and less hilly places.. rather flat

climate control being.. just turning the fan on?

climate control = aircon, but with more control than just on/off

black8thgen

so how are we meant to make the most of the climate control? this is something i never really understood =.=

I used nothing but standard 91 RON petrol in my FD1 Auto while i had it. My fuel consumption over 2 1/2 years was 59,848 km, 4053.09 liters, average = 6.78 L/100km. I never had the low fuel light come on under 600km.

for the 6 weeks (3000+kms) i have driving my manual fd 09, i've averaged 6.9L/100km running on standard 91 RON petrol.
that was 75% highway, 25% city driving. Edit: that includes using air con most of the time.
very happy with the consumption thus far! why bother going for E10.

how come your guys fuel consumption are so good? I got about 350 km for my first full tank, and about 400km for my second tank. is it because of my car is new?... but that;s like 100km+ different. I don't think i drive that hard too. Its auto 09 model and done about 900km in total.

It'll get better after 5000km progressively.

And your right foot has very much to do with it as well.

Anyway, anyone tried the mixture? I've been driving 70+% Highway 30%, same E10 and Vpower blend, upto 650km per tank now, woot :)

I had excellent fuel consumption from the very beginning with my FD1 Auto. When i sold it at 60,000km my overall average was 6.8 lts / 100km. best was 5.8, worst was 7.6 it made no difference from fist tank to last tank.
