Alright, so ive driven a little 88 civic sedan for a while, since then loved the hondas!!, so im looking at buying a integra... its a 89 model with lots of mods at a very reasonable price... below is a list of mods, i was just wondering how reliable you think all this could be etc?
Bloke selling it says he is unsure on what the new engine has done, but the car has done 188 thousand. not bad for the age... i took it for a drive last night, never driven a vtec, and i loved this thing. went like a rocket. claims to have 103kw atw...
specs..
B18A with B16A VTEC Head and B16A ECU
AEM adjustable cam gears
UniChip Piggyback ECU
K&N Pod filter
D&T Performance custom 4-into-1 mild steel headers and 2.25" stainless exhaust with hi-flow cat.
Polyurethane engine mounts
XTD stage 3 racing clutch (Installed 11 months ago, new)
8lb lightweight flywheel (normal flywheel weighs 18lb,
Racing Logic coilovers (Height, damper bound and rebound adjustable,)
Interior:
Clifford IntelliVoice alarm including two-zone radar, remote central locking and boot release
Momo steering wheel and gear knob.
2X Recaro SR race seats
Stereo:
Pioneer DEH-P5050UB Head unit
Alpine MRV-1005 and Apline MRV-F300 Amp
3X 10" JL-Audio 10W6 Subwoofers
MTX 6" splits in the front and MTX 6" 3 ways in the rear.

anyone? even if there are some common faults that i would need to look for?
how much ?
Did you check if the shocks are still in good order?
things like CV , shocks and bushings may need replacing at that age unless done so already.

6g negotiable.... i reckon thats pretty good? considering the seats alone would be about 5-600each?? not to mention engine work.
Thoughts mate

sorry didnt see the shocks question... no i havent looked for that yet, car rides really well though.
another thing, because of the lightened fly wheel when i take my foot of the clutch the revs drop down straight away to about 500. the seller says its because of the weight??
any accident history ?
check for the alignment of panels and front n rear bar.. just a thought.

not sure..
I doubt it would be because of the weight though.

I will ask the bloke these questions, he seemed pretty genuine and reason for selling was buying a new car. he said his next plans were quad throttle bodies etc etc...

The car is very straight, only thing i see wrong is the paint fading a little.
not sure..
I doubt it would be because of the weight though.
Alright, well bear in mind i was driving this car in 40degree weather also, the clutch is very jumpy, when the car is idling is is perfect.
i just dont want to jump into it without knowing, but i guess this is the gamble i have to take,,,
Price seem ok though? i will offer 5g and see...

seems like a good enough buy.
does he still have any of the recepts?
dyno sheet?

get the NRMA/RACV to put it up on a hoist and see if they think anything is wrong with it. only costs a couple of hundred dollars and worthwhile

Yer i think its pretty decent price, i mean the stuff he has done to it,.
Yeh mate, he has a box full of receipts, and a dyno sheet to proove. i think ill get him down to 5300. pretty quick car and lots of fun to drive. love the vtec noise

Would be very worthwhile, but that couple hundred i dont have unfortunately.. mate looking at it is very critical and will see what he thinks.
The Cv's apparently do "clunk" a little.. only thing im worried about is he is unsure how many ks the new engine has done.

well, i just dont want to spend more than i have to especially if im trying to beat the guy down already.. like i said the guy checking it out knows a lot about hondas, we have 4 in our family lol. put engines in before etc, anyway does it seem like a good buy for what it comes with? anyone interested in pics to suss it?

yeah looks pretty neat.
get your mechanic friend to do a compression test. if you get around 200psi in each cylinder for the motor then i'd consider buying it
Fitzy

i mean the bottom line is, 6k isnt a lot of money and it wont cost much to repair because parts are still around and not too hard to get.

yeh mate, thats very true, hondas are easy to get parts for. but like i have said the only MAIN concern i have is the fact he is unsure how many k's the engine has done... it has a brand new b16A head. the car is straight as. and perfect inside. seats have no wear at all.

yeh the price is what interests me. stock ones go for about 4500,
this one has lotsa mods. definetly lots more money spent on the car than he is selling for.
