I stumbled across this today on the net, http://yoparts.com/. Basically it's a website where you pay a subscription to have access to lower prices on parts.

I know what you're thinking, it sounded like a rip off to me too, but I was looking through some of the stuff and the subscription price really doesn't seem big compared to the amount you can save. For instance, $30USD for a 3-month subscription and you can buy N+ coilovers for the Euro for $1325AUD. The cheapest I've seen traders here sell them for is like $2100AUD.

Take a look at the website for yourselves, I mean I think it looks pretty cool but I'm not sure. Would anyone be interested in going half with me on a subscription and ordering stuff?

thats because the traders on here have much higher overheads and have to pay taxes and duties and freight. theres nothing wrong with traders, some of them are really good and help you out.

If you want to go through the diy get it here option, there are better suppliers around that ship straight from japan imho

Liam,
I have to assume this does not include shipping cost... (approx $400)

If you add shipping cost to it + the tax for it coming into Oz for items over $1k = the same as the traders....

Correct me if i am wrong

Oh I didn't take into account the taxes and stuff. But still, what if the items are less than $1k?

assuming your scenario,

Total Customs Value = AUD $1000 = 646USD <--- not likely you'll get that value as they said for members = 885 for N+

Total Duty Payable (10% of customs value) = $100

Total GST Payable (10% of Total of Customs Value + Duty Payable + Shipping/Insurance Cost) = 10% x ($1000 + $100 + $400) = $150

Declaration Processing Charge (Fixed amount charged) = $48.85

Total Payable = Duty Payable + GST Payable + Declaration Processing Charge = $298.85

in addition to your $1000 and $400 shipping.

Total you will spend would be $1698.85.

Please note this is rough a estimation and due to economic changes or commercial amendments in costs or process, will not be held against my calculation. Only for insight on the costs you will be required to pay.

So even though that's a rough estimate it's still a saving?

Here is the real one.

Assuming Custom value of item is 885USD = 1372AUD

Total Customs Value = $1372

Total Duty Payable (10% of customs value) = $137.2

Total GST Payable (10% of Total of Customs Value + Duty Payable + Shipping/Insurance Cost) = 10% x ($1372 + $137.2 + $400) = $190.92

Declaration Processing Charge (Fixed amount charged) = $48.85

Total Payable = Duty Payable + GST Payable + Declaration Processing Charge = $376.97

in addition to your $1372 and $400 shipping.

Total you will spend would be $ 2148.97.

Please note this is rough a estimation and due to economic changes or commercial amendments in costs or process, will not be held against my calculation. Only for insight on the costs you will be required to pay. Also noting that I am assuming ideal shipping of the value of $400AUD, which is a bit optimistic.

So even though that's a rough estimate it's still a saving?
not looking too good if traders are selling for 2100.

Here is the real one.

Assuming Custom value of item is blah blah = blah blah
Total Customs Value = blah blah blah
blah blah

i love you for being so nerdy!

but yes, excellent info, and things really do get f*cken expensive like that when ordering over $1000 parts...

not to mention itll take ages to ship, then it sits in customs for ages, then they f*ck you around, then the part arrives 2months late :(

and yes, speaking from experience!

p.s i tried to give you RP but it says i have to slut around first lol

The main problems we have here in Aust. when we order parts from the states is,1)shit exchange rate ATM.2)freight charges. So ATM it's probably worth sourcing parts locally for the time being.
