Has anyone out there in Euroland fitted aftermarket driving lights to their STANDARD CL9 by fitting them into the apatures in the bumper?

Are you talking about foglights?

Not really, as I think the standard headlamps are fine for short distance spread but lacking somewhat on distance. I am thinking of removing the black plastic inserts in the bumper and fitting the lights in the recesses. I am hoping that I can do the job without removing the bumper. I can make any special brackets that may/will be necessary.

so you want to put more powerful lights in the foglight spot?
what's wrong with the high beams?

Hey Robert, you can get proper spottie mount bar that bolts on behind the number plate.
Places like supercheap have got them.
This is what I'm talking about:

I was thinking seriously about doing this, or getting HID 30w low and 50w high beams.

Yes I am a country driver and use the high beam frequently. Thanks for the info on the lamp bar but I wish to keep the "clean look" of the front of the car.

HID's might be your answer.

driving lights down that low wont help at all for long distance... you'll just get massive shadows on the road... they need to be up higher looking down, not low looking up... :(

Robert,
If you don't want to break up the lines of the car, have you considered mounting them behind the grill.
I don't know how much room you have back there on a CL9, but I did it years ago on a Skyline and they shone through fine.

Proper 'cheap' HID. :)
I can't vouch for the quality, but they seem good enough.
IMO they are all cheap and nasty unless you go Philips. :)

I am actually making inquiries into the feasibility of getting a nudge bar manufactured to mount my Lightforce Spotlights on. I dont want to go the Universal Light Bar which i Had on my Civic. These lights give better than 500 meters of vision.

LEDs? or HIDs?
if you want maximum brightness, makes sure yet get 4500-5000k colour temperature HIDs... anything more will be blue and lose lux output....
