I did do a quick search but couldn't find any information

basically I have started to eye off DART B18 blocks to consider chucking my B16A2 head onto for either N/A or turbo setup (still undecided, plus i need to read up more on everything) The blocks are quite exxy, about USD 2700 ex. freight

does anyone have or know anyone who has had experience with these blocks and know what they are like/worth the money buying one?

I am pretty keen to make my EK into a project car so money isnt necessarily a problem as I've set myself a time frame of about 5 years till completion (lol alot of other things i need to spend my money on first) who knows I'll probably end up spending money on a K20 if I am going to be spending alot of money...

I've changed my mind so much over the matter...first was get a K20, then no wait I'll turbo my B16....nah I'll do B16/B18 and keep it N/A ahh I dunno maybe I should turbo the frankenstein :P although if i do go B16/B18 I'll most likely get a DART block...

They do GSR heads too but I'm thinking they are discontinued as their getting rid of their stock at cost price anyways the website is;

for anyone who wants a look

not worth it unless its an all out comp car running like 40psi of boost and/or a stupidly high comp ratio (like above 15:1)

DART are available locally through Rocket Industries, so theoretically you should be able to order one through SuperCheap Auto.

But as TRISM said, only value if are going all-out competition engine. For a road car, even a project, the standard Honda block, if built right, will more than do the job.

Dart block wont do nothing a stock sleeved block wont do unless your going for a super tall deck height.

btw when you buy a dart block, does it come with a generic engine number? ie without the B16/17/18/20 prefix?

DART blocks are made by DART. I know that sounds obvious but they make the castings and manufacture the blocks so they will carry DART ID not Honda. Check out this photo:

There is no pad or ID on this block.

There is a DART logo cast into the block on the other side:

Underneath that logo you will see some numbers, also to the left of the logo, down a bit. That is the serial number. DART would probably give the buyer a certificate to match (at least for warranty).

I wouldnt go that far, they are a 226mm raised deck block so makes for a better rod/stroke ratio especially if ur going with a longer stroke crank, I personally didnt go with the dart block because of the price and the internal passages ae not as clean as the honda ones, I did want a raised deck since im running a 95mm stroke crank so now the rod/stroke ratio is just better than a stock b18c but now im 2.1L, this is the block i have, much better i think in terms of price/value, www.erlperformance.com, Its the superdeck II.
Check it out

... sorry to but into the thread had one going myself, whats your opinions on the dart b20 block compared to honda's, am seriously thinking of getting the dart block for a hi comp b20 monster with an 84mm bore.

Dart blocks are very sturdy but the casting quality isnt as good as the factory honda pieces. IMO they are a better alternative than resleeving an OEM block which can also get fairly pricey.

How would it compare to your B20 ? they say the walls a slightly thicker and water jackets bigger to compensate big HP, Do you have any trouble with what application u have atm?

No dramas at all so far, with good tuning shouldnt have any problems naturally aspirated. Im putting together a turbo kit for my engine atm so Im interesting to see how the B20 holds up with some boost :)

yeah thats the main point of the DART b20 block over the oem honda block

they are cast with thicker walls so that people can run higher boost levels than they could on a oem block

id trust DART.

they have been making performance parts for nearly 30 years and know what they are doing

They also are closed deck design compared to the OEM blocks which are open deck and they have steel main caps for added rigidity
