Just noticed before that when my headlights are off, my dash (tacho, speedo etc) and my cd/radio screen are brighter.

Then when I put my headlights on, it all dims down a notch.

When I noticed it, I thought something was weird, although it might just be my head playing games .
Are your guys Euro's like this?
Could somebody do a quick check for me? :p

I've changed my battery recently if that changes anything.

Its like that in all/most cars. Something else is drawing power... Try turning your headlights on then turn the dial to adjust the brightness to the brightest settings. That should fix it.

Both my new cars are like that. They are ment to be like that. You can adjust the brightness as well.

You don't want it to be bloody bright at night, but you want it to be highlighted during the day. ;)

Thanks.
I've been driving less and less lately, my head is playing games...

That's normal operation.

When you turn on your head lights the dash dims to avoid glare of a night. If you want you can adjust them back up with the panel brightness knob while the head lights are on.

it is not something else drawing power
it's designed like so it isn't too bright at night.
it dims down the lights.

night dimmer, anti glaring headunit and dash lights, its common sense!

some people like it bright, people get glare and its annoying :)

some people like it bright, people get glare and its annoying :)It's very annoying when doing long distance driving at night. It makes it hard to see. I would turn the dash lights off completely if I could.

Was driving home one night and noticed that the dash was brighter than usual. Tried turning the knob and it didn't seem right...then it hit me that I didn't even have my lights on. So maybe it's a safety feature. :D
