hello everyone,

i have a quick question(well maybe a few).. i'm about to buy a buddy club spec 3 exhaust with custom extractors.. its coming off a type r and i have a vtir... the system however does not come with a cat. will my vtir cat bolt onto this system without any mods? (the cat on the type r is the stock itr cat) what differences are there from a ITR cat and a VTiR cat (length, inlet/outlet size, etc)?

also will i have any problems or issue fitting this exhaust system on my car, it is a 4-1 extractor, vtir cat and the buddyclub spec 3? will i notice much gain?

thanks any help will be appreicated.

vtir = itr cat

gain will be noticed, but better if u go hi flow cat
no point choking the exhaust gases at the cat

tanghy is right, if your going to get an aftermarket exhuast, and headers you might as well. go hi flow to properly set it up correctly.

how would say a livo exhaust system compare to the setup i stated above (custom extractors 4-1, vtir cat, buddy club spec 3)?

is the itr underbody the same as the vtir? as in the mounting point and so forth for the exhaust?

vtir = itr cat

Put a straight through in the cat and there will be diff.... but if you get caught, its bad man...... :D

traumatized: Mounting spot is the same, for street, my opinion is to have 2.5 inch extractor, 2.5 inch cat, 2.25 mid pipe and 2.5 inch exhaust, it will have balance between low-mid torque and max power, but if you want the best outcome of this setting, it's better to have high flow intake system and engine, or you may lose power

well to be honest with you i have the options of the custom extractors 4-1, vtir cat and buddy club spec 3 (second hand)or should i just go to livo exhaust and get a highflow system from them(new)?

I don't know the brand of the custom extractor, so i couldn't tell the performace. Anyway a JDM 4-1 Extractor from overseas + shipping + tax cost you around $700aud, at least i got one and i sold to my fd before, cheapest extractor with most power increase, but make sure you have a 2.5 inch cat...

And the Buddy Club Spec 3, are you talking about the one with straight pipe and the muffler at the end? Well...... Everyone have different opinions but my opinion is..... this exhaust makes hell loud of noise and even noiser if your exhaust system is more high flow, yes... maybe you'll think you gain some max power, but think, you are losing the torque which means you take longer to rev up to gain more power, by that time, someone who have other exhaust may be ahead of you already. For me, i don't consider buddy club exhaust, their ECUs and Coilovers are pretty good but not exhaust

Are you really having 2 choices only? i mean Buddy Club and Livo? I don't know the quality of Livo but what i think is Good settings is better than a good brand, if the quality of the livo exhaust is good then go for the livo, else try to get a FGK, best quality with cheapest price in jap brand exhaust

sorrya obut the lateness in reply, the buddy club 3 is the one with a muffler on it where as i think you may be talking about the spec to which is straight through all the way without a muffler.

well i guess they are my only two opitions atm, i've heard mixed opinions about liverpool exhaust so i really dont know.. guess i just wanted ppl's opinions on what they think would be a better option for me.

yeah i agree with this :) track exhausts should be left on the track... suit no valuable purpose on the street other than to make lots of farting noises... hence when i said in my pm to you (which you didn't believe) that my exhaust setup would mean me beating you in a little traffic light olympics i was speaking the truth :)

I had the Buddyclub Spec 3 - maybe lost a middle range but pulled like a mother f*cker up top. Probably the nicest sounding exhaust I've heard at full noise, but yeah not suitable for the street lol.

heheh thats what im afraid of hehe, it is very loud a nice rumble on idle but when you hit vtec thats a very story. i can imagine how loud it would be at night. thats why i'm not too sure about it...

do you know if liverpool exhaust system hang over the axle or under? i dont want my exhuast to scrap and stuff.. i know it can't be helped sometimes but i want to minimise that from happening.

it won't go under axle full stop...

Hey what are the chances that someone with a spec 3 will get defected by the pigs? :D

The whole time I had it never had any trouble with the cops, even though I hit VTEC daily :D

Seeings you want opinions Ill give mine =)

I think its more important to spend money on a good pair of headers than cat back... BCIII is quite expensive... id be spending that money on some good headers and getting an average or custom cat back... rather than the other way around =)

go custom exhaust exhaust and get some nice headers (JDM 4-1)

Sometimes when you feel the top end pulls like #)%*)(#%*)(#, it means your low-mid end is too weak, even worse than stock, you lost power and time already, so what's the point to get something which lost power? you don't need to consider low-mid end on the track so it doesn't count

I like smooth setups, and power doesn't mean anything to me on the track, i like balance, more power = more pressure on the tyre and chassis, unless your chassis, tyre and your skills are good enough
