BAR HONDA in 2005.

Button will not drive for Williams...
At least not for the 2005 season

Jenson Button

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today acknowledged the verdict delivered by the Contract Recognitions Board (CRB) that Jenson Button is legally bound to BAR for the 2005 season.

The team also confirmed that it would not seek to challenge the judgement under any other legal jurisdiction.

In response to the verdict, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team Principal Frank Williams said, “Naturally we are disappointed with the CRB’s conclusion. We took the view that Jenson was a driver worth challenging for, and based on strong legal advice, we have no regrets about making a bid for his services. The CRB accepted a significant number of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team’s arguments, but nevertheless found against us. We do not believe any further legal action in relation to this matter to be in the broader interests of the sport. In spite of the CRB’s conclusion, which relates to 2005, we will maintain our close relationship with Jenson for 2006.”

Jenson Button commented, “Naturally I am disappointed by the ruling, but as a matter of principle, I firmly believe in standing by the decision the CRB have reached today. BAR have been extremely professional at the race track during this process, and I expect this to continue. I look forward to joining the BMW WilliamsF1 Team in the future.”

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team will make a further announcement concerning its 2005 driver line-up in due course.

I'm glad, I don't think he had reasonable grounds to "end" his contract.
And we all know how much i dislike Button!

Williams haven't confirmed anyone yet for 2005.
I would get Davidison or Luizzi.
But Coulthard is a chance to.

I don't see it being a good thing for BAR.
He doesn't wanna be there, they could of got Anthony Davidson to drive for them (I know he isn't Button) but give him time!

Just to repost what i posted in a similar topic in Prelude Australia:

I think that this saga is over. Jenson and BARs relationship wont be as good as before, but this issue will be firmly behind them as soon as they walked out of the CRBs doors.

Its clear to see that in F1 in order to succeed you cannot dwindle on the past, you have to look to the future. Obviously Jensons future is with BAR so he will be getting on with preparation for Brazil, and 2005, as will BAR. The relationship will be scarred (but not trashed) but they will continue to be as effective a combination in 2005 as they are this year.

i reckon pizzonia has a chance of the other williams drive

....leaving coulthard in a bit of a lurch
i read he would rather sit the year out than take on a testing gig??!?!? (crazy IMHO), how can you expect to be on song after sitting out a yr - look at villenueve :D

anyway, all fun and games in interlagos this weekend, if it rains expect 'car'-nage (sorry, couldn't help myself)

see if rubens can break the jinx on his home track

I don't think everyone should talk up Mark Webber just yet..
Now i'm a huge fan of his, but lets be realistic.
Everytime he has got in the points or near pole its because of some misshap and he got lucky.

Don't get me wrong now, I think he is a great driver but if Juan and Ralf can't get the FW24 to go any good, what are the chances Webber is going to get it in 1st? (It'll be the FW25 next year ;))

I just think people are getting there hopes up abit to much, alot of F1 experts have said the same thing, give him a year at Williams and hope the team picks up and they can get a competitive car for 05-06 against Ferrari, McLaren, BAR, Renault and Sauber.

I said Sauber becuase Jacques will be winning everything LOL now thats high hopes.

i think mark webber needs a bit of maturity, a few times this year he's been quick but something goes wrong and he's sort of called it a day......don't get me wrong, he's quick when he's on it.

I hope DC gets the Williams drive, give him a final shot with a good team.

As for BAR and JB, well, i think it was a bad idea to fight for him, now they've got someone who doesn't really want to be there, bad for the morale of the team....i'm sure he'll still try his best to win but will the whole team be 100% behind him when he wanted to leave them? i don't think so.....

anyway, it'd be a surprise to me if ferrari and schumacher didn't dominate again next year.....

Button has good reason to fight for next year, with each championship point he receives £3 million for
it so I know I’d fight for some points. Also, he would have to put on a good show next year so when he goes to Williams.

If David goes to Williams I think it’ll be good for Webber, David it a great driver with a lot of knowledge.

go BAR! I reckon they shoulda let button go, he isn't loyal to our team and Sato is the bomb! Although the personal relationship between JB and BAR will not be as before, JB is competitive and will want to win no matter which car he is driving. Therefore I think BAR can have a good crack in 2k5. Can't wait till Im at Albert Park in March. Woooo

I dont really like DC. I dont really see DC taking up a mentor role for webber either. I wonder if the big domino effect rumour that F1live floated will happen at all?? (the one where Williams buy fischella , and renault stick with jacques, etc.. )

LUD02C
22-10-2004, 03:36 PM
Renault will stick with Fisichella and Alonso for a while i reckon.
Fabio likes his Italian drivers, much like Jackie likes his English speaking drivers!

Either way, Fisichella should be finishing in the top 6 and qualifying in the top 4 in a Renault.

with each championship point he receives £3 million

Where are you getting that from?

Button has 85 points so far this season - does that mean he has earnt £255 million? on top of his salary?

bigteethygrin
22-10-2004, 06:04 PM
heheheh why would ya leave with that sort of payment?

Quoted straight from his contract into Australian Motorsport Magazine.
This is why he though he could get out of his contract of BAR in 05 because they only payed him £153 million and he wanted it after each race!

He is a greedy man in my opinion.
Also, I wouldn't post something if i wasn't sure on it ;)
But it is a great incentive you have to admit.

dont really want to be picky but seeing as you said it i may as well correct you

The BMW.WilliamsF1 Chassis number for next year will actually be the FW27... the FW24 was used in 2002

Also, Jenson Buttons contract states that he receives about $50 thousand (not 3 million) for each championship point. This wasnt an issue in 2003 because he only scored 17 points last year, but currently he is on 127 points after suzuka, so his contract says that he should get over 6 million dollars in bonuses. BAR have not paid him this yet, so he is pretty pissed off.

eheh sorry jason!

I'm only going by what the mag said (yes i believed the magazine :( )

hahaha - they would be paying jenson more than the entire budget of BAR honda!! (just about)

Button is F****N SAV!, BAR should cancel his contract out of spite and contract someone else! Anyone who doesnt wanna be with a racing team should be allowed to seek *greener* pastures! You don't win championships with negative relationships. Take Schuey and Ferrari for example like a family!

kenshin
23-10-2004, 01:16 PM
schuey n ferrari is a different kettle of fish all together... ferarri is happy to give michael a blank cheque n name his price...

but you're right...

imo all the f1 drivers are 90% within each other skill level wise... also need lotsa luck if you're not ferarri...
team performance - engineers pit crew sponsers etc brings in the points...
jensens had a good year opposed to sato ... which helps to make jensen look even better as a driver...

Team West Mclaren Mercedes and Kimi for 2005 Championship!

haha seems kimi is in this catagory this year too :P

shows ya in f1 how much team sponsership dollars can do...

LUD02C
24-10-2004, 01:14 AM
kenshin: You have brought up a great point.
I love when people call any racer "crap" or "shit" etc.
Only the best get into F1, with sponsor help but you have to be a great driver to get the sponsor!

so who finished second?

kenshin
25-10-2004, 03:47 PM
well its obvious that mclaren isnt having a good year... infact a bad year is just putting it mildly. Not to say kimi isnt a good driver... i've seen what he can do in the rain (wet weather = more level playing field... although schuie is the true rain meister)... awesome driver too bad the team wasnt up to snuff this year...

BAR finished 2nd in the team standings... or do you mean the brazillian f1 gp?
haha

Dylan
25-10-2004, 07:11 PM
yeah I was talking about the brazillian grand prix, but its obvious that the better team during the second half of the year was McLaren for raw pace. Ferrari was still in front but only by a little.

How come BAR didnt win a race this season? *cough* kimi won on pure speed as well not luck

LUD02C
26-10-2004, 09:03 PM
Hold on, You can't call Kimi a bad driver!
He is an excellent driver.
BAR is a great team but remind me much of Richard Burns winning the WDC in the WRC, by coming 2nd and 3rd he won it. Which is bullshit.
The best should win and the winner should be the WDC not 2nd or 3rd.

Yeh i understand the reliability factor, but i haven't seen Kimi Vs Button yet.
And when we do i got my money on Kimi...

K3NstyL

I don't think anyone was calling kimi a bad driver.... And if they were i will CUT them!
